We had the good fortune of connecting with Vince Perri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vince, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Elite Resolutions, Inc. is a public adjuster firm. The very essence of what a public adjuster does is advocacy for a policyholder needing assistance and expert advice throughout the insurance claims process. When disaster strikes, and your most prized possession is hit by a hurricane, hail storm, water burst or flood, we are there to help pick up the pieces, protect your home, gather the evidence, put together an estimate of repairs on site, and guide you through every step of the way to assure you proper compensation from the insurance company to help put your home, business, or building back together again.

As the Commercial Claims Advocate, my goal is to bring the entire community of public adjusters, attorneys and restoration contractors together to help elevate our industry. Through education and public events, we are getting experts together to share ideas and educate one another on ways we can better serve our clients, and devise better ways to combat the insurance companies when they are not indemnifying the insureds.

What should our readers know about your business?
Elite Resolutions focuses on education. Our primary goal is to educate homeowners, business owners, homeowner associations and contractors on the very complicated insurance claims process. From understanding your insurance policy, to being prepared for the worst case scenario, and the important steps one must take immediately after a loss occurs. I believe this is exactly what separates us from others. Instead of trying to get the claim signed and representing the insured immediately, we want to educate first, to make sure everyone understands the process and is prepared.

I have been a licensed adjuster for the last 14 years, and a licensed public insurance adjuster for the last 13 years. I started as an auto claims adjuster for State Farm, where I realized that the insured/homeowner is not in the insurance company’s best interest. Since it is a business, and one of the insurance company’s largest expenses is claim payouts, they will stop at nothing to try and underpay the claim, or treat the policyholder unfairly. Upon this realization, I decided to make the switch to the opposite side of the fence and represent the policyholder during these troubling times. It has been a very rewarding career, and has allowed me to give back to my community day in and day out.

The biggest challenge we face is the insurance company. They have millions of dollars, lobbyists throughout the state legislature, and are constantly playing defense against policyholders, making it more and more difficult to get claims paid accordingly. Through education and constant communication with others in my industry, we have always been able to overcome any of the roadblocks presented by the carriers to make sure our clients are paid what they are owed.

I have learned that there is not such thing as easy money, and nothing good in life comes easy. You have to work hard to get to where you want to be in life.

I want the world to know about the nobleness of my profession. Throughout my career, public insurance adjusters have sometimes been given a negative reputation for taking advantage of people and of the insurance company by delaying claims, or falsifying claims, or being the reason for increased insurance rates and premiums. This could not be further from the truth. Public insurance adjusters only exist due to the negative actions insurance companies have displayed towards their own policyholders throughout the insurance claims process. We do not get paid until the claim gets paid, so it’s in our best interested to get it paid fast, we would not get paid if the claims were falsified since they would get denied or worse we would lose our license, and our involvement in claims has absolutely zero influence on insurance rates and premiums. Rates and premiums are being raised on a daily basis due to the increased number of storms and catastrophes around the world.

As I said, this is a noble profession and a noble industry. One in which more people should know about, not only about the fact we exist and we can be used on every claim, but also about the common actions by the insurance companies on their insurance claims.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to come visit me in my beautiful city of Miami, I think I would first take them to the cool and trendy town of Wynwood. I think they would appreciate the graffiti art throughout the city, along with the amazing craft food and drink they have to offer. After that, I would definitely introduce them to the deep rooted Cuban culture. From the Cuban food at Sergio’s, La Carreta or Versailles, to the Cuban touristic community of Little Havana and Domino Park. This in my opinion is what makes Miami so unique. It will be hard to find a better plate of Cuban food anywhere else in the world. A trip to Miami would not be complete without a visit to the iconic South Beach. I remember spending many Saturdays rollerblading along Ocean Drive while my dad went to the beach for a sun tan, as well as my time in my early 20s with my friends having a great time right on the beach. We would spend all day at the beach, in the water, then go shower, only to go back to South Beach for the nightclubs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would honestly like to give a shoutout to the entire insurance advocacy community. This industry has allowed me to realize how important we are. Whether a public adjuster, insurance attorney, or restoration contractor helping people put their homes/lives back together again; these are the people in the front lines immediately after disaster strikes. This can be a very troubling time for most people, and our industry is there to help pick up the pieces and assist them throughout the very strenuous process of rebuilding their most prized possession. We fight for the people against one of the largest and most powerful industry’s in the world, the insurance industry.
