Meet Wanda Lopez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wanda Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wanda Lopez, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
In 2017, on the cusp of a transformative experience that would profoundly alter my life, I was gifted by a friend as farewell present since I was moving… it was called “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay. This book became a beacon, guiding me through the impending changes that would resonate not just externally, but within the deepest parts of my being. It taught me a powerful lesson: the path to liberation lies inward. Confronting one’s own self, emotions, and scars is the first step towards realizing that one’s life remains one’s own sovereign territory. This realization empowered me to embark on a journey of self-reclamation, where self-love and acceptance became the cornerstones of a life reclaimed and cherished anew. It was a pivotal moment that set the stage for a profound personal evolution, instilling in me the courage to embrace life with renewed vigor and purpose.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wanda, a 31-year-old Latina and devoted single mother, is on the verge of completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Her professional life is dedicated to working as a Behavior Technician, where she provides support to children with autism. Beyond her academic and professional endeavors, Wanda is deeply committed to a personal mission: illuminating the complexities of trauma. She channels her passion into raising awareness and empowering women to recognize the depth and resilience behind their smiles. Through the art of photography and storytelling, Wanda seeks to reveal the often-concealed truths that lie beneath the surface. Her message is clear: women’s smiles often mask a myriad of experiences, and it’s time the world acknowledged the strength and substance that constitute their true essence. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a Jersey Girl myself, I highly recommend making a stop at the shore! There’s a unique charm to strolling along the boardwalk by the Jersey shore. For those who enjoy both shopping and entertainment, the American Dream Mall is your go-to destination. Plus, with New York just a bus or train ride away, you have the convenience of traveling not only within New Jersey but also to NYC. Don’t forget your pizza slice or bagel along the way…. Jersey style!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Katy is the creator of JourneyofSmiley blog and
PTSD: My Story Project
https://journeyofsmiley.com/
I encountered Katy when she shared her story on my page, and in turn, I shared mine on hers. Since then, we have collaborated several times to raise awareness about the effects of PTSD and to encourage people to share their truth and their stories. It’s important because it represents another voice breaking free from the shadows cast by PTSD.
Katy consistently thinks of ways for me to join in and contribute my knowledge and personal experiences, for which I am thankful.
