We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Viamonte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The vision of creating a special place and bringing community together for healing started when I first began working in my office. But it was a few years later when I began my training at The Wellness Institute in Issaquah, Washington for Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy that I knew right away this was going to be a big part of my work. This work is based on healing your inner child by utilizing many different modalities and techniques. I began integrating this work into my own practice and 5 years ago I decided to start group retreats called Letting Go weekend and PTI ( Personal Transformation Intensive 1, 2 and 3 ) with a colleague of mine that was doing the same training. The first big challenge was to find a place that could accommodate large groups in a retreat like setting. Each PTI meets one weekend per month for 5 months. At first we rented, but it became clear that we needed our own place, which led to our next big challenge. Last year we purchased a 5 acre property in Homestead, Florida and Heart’s Tapestry was born. We remodeled and renovated, molding and shaping it into a beautiful spacious retreat center. We now have a 4,000 square foot residential area that can accommodate up to 24 people and a 2,400 square foot sacred healing center. Today we hold our own Letting Go workshops, our PTI retreats and are set up to host other healing retreats and events as well.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heart’s Tapestry is a place for community, a beautiful safe sacred retreat center created to nurture, nourish and heal mind, body and soul. I believe what sets us apart is the love that is woven into every thread of our work. Our workshops are a continuum of Letting Go weekend and 3 PTI’s, each connecting, weaving and blending into the next, creating a full personal experiential healing experience. We like to think of it as a gentle but powerful journey of self discovery. Our PTI retreats combine powerful modalities such as: chanting, meditation, hypnotherapy, psychodrama, energy work and breathwork. All held in a loving, safe, judgment free environment. In my opinion there is nothing as a deep, or as profound and healing as this work. What I am most inspired about is witnessing the healing and the transformation that take place every weekend and i’m so proud of the beautiful energy in the center. It is so palpable that no one wants to leave. Of course we had our challenges getting there, but I am grateful that everything unfolded smoothly, at the right time, at the right place. I’ve learned to be patient, to trust and to continue weaving the tapestry. I believe that Love can transform anything. Heart’s Tapestry is proof of that, as it is truly the manifestation of the love we put in the work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course I would show them the beautiful sites of Miami. We would have chocolate chip muffins for breakfast from Chocolate Fashion in the Gables. For dinner visit my two favorite restaurants: Tutto Pizza and Brasserie. Then we would hang out with my close friends and spend some time enjoying the peaceful beauty of Heart’s Tapestry. We could have a nice BBQ, relax in the hammocks, swing under the Poinciana tree. We could hang out in the meditation garden around the fire pit, do s’mores . We could take a walk through the grove and pick up some mangos, papaya, or a variety of other fruit. We could sit on the porch, listen and watch our visiting peacocks and the wonderful array of birds and butterflies. Then there is always movie night and popcorn by the fire place or some karaoke or charades for fun. We could do a little yoga, meditation or chanting in the center. The options are endless.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My first shoutout would have to go to The Wellness Institute and all my teachers: David, Diane, Michael, Susan, Sarah, Matt and Yvonne for their mentorship, guidance and inspiration. To my partner Dania who has been walking this path with me and co-teaching the retreats. To my husband and my kids for their love and support in making this dream come true. To all the assistants for their seva and to all the clients and participants for their trust. We didn’t get this far alone, we had a lot of help. So, I want to thank everyone for their support along the way, for everyone who has donated, whether it was through their financial donations, their time, their professional skills, or their prayers. For anyone who is called and wishes to be a part of the thread that continues to weave Heart’s Tapestry, we have a Go Fund Me page. We still have so much we need and want to do to continue growing so that it can reach further and farther. Heart’s Tapestry is love, and Love is what will continue to build it!
