We had the good fortune of connecting with Terra Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terra, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I did as a parent was keeping the lines of communication open so that my children were able to express their feelings and communicate their issues without me shutting them down. Grant it there was things that I did not want to hear as a parent but in order to maintain their trust, to help resolve their issues, understand how they are feeling, as a parent I have to be an effective listener. Implementing such a practice has had an impact on my children in that when it comes down to decisions or issues related to individuals in their circle they know as a parent they can come to me for guidance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a paralegal of twenty years. I traveled 75 plus miles one way every day to go to work and have experienced mornings when my commute has been delayed about three hours before I arrive to work, but for patience. I am proud to have maintained the same career since graduating from college and to be blessed to have two amazing bosses (prior and current). To get to where I am today professionally, I obtained a degree in legal studies and maintain current on the changes in the laws. It wasn’t easy when my former boss retired and I started my career in a different area of law. To overcome the challenges I had to learn not to be afraid to ask question, to say I was not knowledgeable in a certain area and to allow myself to be open to learn. With that I was able to gain knowledge in a different area which added to my areas of expertise. I would like the world to know never doubt yourself and never be afraid to take on what might appear to be a challenge because it the end you will come out a conqueror.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to say the Hard Rock considering I haven’t had a chance to take to dine there and will be an experience for both of us. I love to shop, so a day of shopping the Palm Beach Outlet and Gardens Mall is a must. Favorite sit down place to eat is Hokkaido Hibachi & Sushi which also provide great entertainment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shout-out-to The Millionheiress Club and Leaders Legacy for challenging me to operate at my highest potential to thrive in the community and to flourish economically. I will also love to give a shout out to Angella Adams-Smith, Devonne Davis-Waters, Michele Liberis-Mcnabb, Aimee Nelson and Sharon Gill.
