We had the good fortune of connecting with Tilza Rizzo-Caceres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tilza, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Mahatma Gandhi, a motto I live by as I believe in every aspect of your life, one should live it their best as there are no promises for tomorrow. I also believe the world is forever changing and it is important to educate yourself in every area as what you think is OK today may actually be detrimental tomorrow. The mind is beautiful so continue feeding it!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my respect for the naturalness of one’s own eyebrows, I do not follow the trends of eyebrow shapes as I prefer to bring back the beauty of the person’s true brows. Starting as a makeup artist was probably the best experience I could have received to understand a person’s personal canvas. The makeup could always be beautiful but if the eyebrows are not balanced it could throw all your work off. I do not believe anything in life is easy. I believe that we make mistakes and learn from them. I believe practice makes perfect. This profession can be cut throat and it is important to stay focused and listen to what your critics are saying even if you do not agree with them. Having an open mind, being humble, and being objective will only make you better. Learn to embrace and distinguish good and bad advice. I think those who know me know the passion I have for what I do and how honest I am with them even if it means saying no to certain services I feel is not necessary for a client.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting I would first take her Brewing Buddha Cafe & Arthouse for a plantain latte and lavender blueberry waffles. Then we’d go to Nikki Beach and sip on their delicious mojito!! For lunch I’d take her to Mandolins Aegean restaurant in the Design District followed by some shopping. For dinner I’d take her to little Havana’s Calle Ocho (8TH Street) and have dinner at Cafe La Trova while listening to live music! In the days to come I’d show her Wynwood and eat at KYU and pick up some donuts at the Salty Donuts. Lastly, you can’t leave Miami without having some amazing seafood so I’d go to the Miami River and try Sea Spice Brasserie and/or Garcia’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Getting to where I am today has been a mixture of trial and error, opportunity, experience, guidance, mentors, and family support. I could start by my mother, being as young as five and watching her put her makeup on and being obsessed with makeup and her letting me explore endlessly with it through my teenage years. My theatrical makeup teacher Chad Hayduck guided me in the direction of becoming a makeup artist and taught me about the balance of the face which also led me to my fascination with eyebrows. Face Stockholm the Swedish Mother and Daughter makeup brand which was my foot in the door for freelancing, and allowed me to attach brow shaping services to clients. Anastasia Beverly Hills which helped me perfect the art of Brow Shaping hence creating an endless following, The Biltmore Hotel/Spa where I am currently located for always supporting all my ideas and giving me the flexibility to train in different eyebrow trends to always offer the latest service must-haves. My husband lastly who for over 20 years has supported my drive to succeed! This is just to name the most significant in all my years in this business but I have to mention that inspiration in one’s career can be presented daily and has. I will forever be a student and I hope I too have given inspiration to someone else as well!
