Where are you from and how has it impacted you?

Even if you are from the same neighborhood as someone else, you might still be coming from different places. Where you are from is a complicated question and it elicits complicated, but interesting and thought-provoking responses. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I believe my upbringing has had a tremendous impact on who I am today. I haven been brought up in city where things are not really easy. There’s a lot of injustice and specially in the arts, it is very difficult to make yourself seen while overcoming the adversities that take place. I feel I lost a lot of precious time in the early days of my career, being misguided by poor educators. There’s a lot of institutions that sell things they cannot provide, and this is an every day thing in a place where the one that deceives has better results than the honest one. Read more>>
I’m originally from the UK, moving over to the USA about 7 years ago just before Brexit. It was very hard to turn back once I’d made incredible friends, got used to the culture and diversity of the USA. There are things I miss of course (family, food, friends) but the US has opened so many doors for me – first in Chicago, now here in Miami. Read more>>
