Meet Sila Azap | Lawyer & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sila Azap and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sila, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was leaving behind a well-established life and career in Istanbul. I was working as a lawyer at an international law firm, enjoying a comfortable life with a stable career. Every year, I would visit Miami for vacation, and over time, I felt an undeniable pull toward living here.
But making that dream a reality wasn’t easy. Was it worth leaving behind everything I had built? Would I be able to create the same quality of life here? These questions weighed heavily on me. After much contemplation, I gathered my courage, resigned from my job, and took a leap of faith. My husband, our 12-year-old dog, and I boarded a plane and started a completely new chapter in Miami. Looking back, it was the boldest and most challenging decision of my life!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Eurasia Food Market takes its name from Turkey’s unique position as a bridge between Europe and Asia, which has shaped its rich and diverse cuisine. Our mission is not only to serve the Turkish and Mediterranean communities but also to introduce Americans to the authentic flavors of Turkey. Seeing more people discover and enjoy these tastes is what drives us.
Starting this business was not easy. Moving to a new country and building everything from scratch came with many challenges—learning regulations, understanding the market, and attracting customers. But I stayed determined, adapted to obstacles, and focused on building strong relationships.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of flexibility and persistence. Eurasia Food Market is more than just a store; it’s a place where cultures meet, traditions are preserved, and people find a taste of home.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure to take them to some of my favorite spots. We’d start by visiting Eurasia Food Market for an authentic taste of Mediterranean and Turkish flavors, then head over to Haulover Dog Beach to enjoy the sun and let the dogs play. For lunch, I’d take them to Sagra Pizza Bar on Biscayne Boulevard for delicious wood-fired pizza. We’d also check out Jazz Kitchen in the Design District for some live music and great food. For a casual meal, Olivara Food Truck would be a must, offering delicious and quick bites. We’d spend the rest of the time exploring the local culture, enjoying Miami’s beautiful parks and beaches, and shopping in the Design District and Wynwood. Miami is all about vibrant flavors, culture, and beautiful outdoor spaces, and I’d want my friend to experience the best of it all!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people and experiences that have shaped my journey, but if I had to dedicate my shoutout to someone, it would be my parents, my husband and my late dog John.
They have been my greatest supporter, standing by my side through every challenge and uncertainty. Leaving behind a stable life and career to start over in a new country was daunting, but their unwavering belief in me gave me the confidence to take that leap. Every setback, every lesson, and every bit of encouragement along the way has played a role in where I am today.
