Meet Anamargret Sanchez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anamargret Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anamargret, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I stopped saying “I don’t have time” to do the things that bring me joy & inspiration.
Luckily teaching yoga and being a transformational coach are inspiring and don’t feel like “work” most of the time. But I had to learn to limit how many students and clients I see a day to make sure I had the time to practice, socialize, continue learning, write, paint/draw and sometimes just relax so I could recharge.
Balance is about how much you put out and also how much you put in. What feeds your mind, heart and soul. How can I rejuvenate my senses on a regular basis? To me that means silence, meditation, daydreaming, cooking, reading etc. Life, work, social media etc. can sometimes hijack our ability to just BE. To let our mind wander, get lost in the clouds, the sound of the ocean, birdsong, the music of the trees.
When I do teach or coach I try and make sure I have 30 minutes in between sessions to step outside, take a breath, walk my dog, drink some tea. I also like to wake up early so I have time to meditate, have coffee as the sun rises, read or journal. It sets the vibe for the rest of the day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is that I have my own karma and dharma to live. No two people have the same destiny or express it the same way. There are many amazing yoga teachers and coaches out there and we are each a unique vessel. I am proud of the fact that I have dedicated almost 25 years to sharing the light and science of Yoga. It hasn’t been easy and I’ve stumbled along the way but I always got back on the path.
The main stumbling block has usually been self-doubt. I’m proud of my resilience and courage to continue to move forward even when fear or that self-doubt crept in.
When I was introduced to Transformational coaching it felt like a new door opened to something very ancient. To truly transform we have to move through the egoic mind to something more transcendental where we connect with ourselves and the world through a different source/portal.
What I’ve learned is that when I attain success it’s not because it just came to me out of thin air. It’s because I got quiet enough to hear the call of my soul and aligned with it. Then I took the actions needed to get to my destination. I learned that inspiration isn’t “out there.” Inspiration is deep within and calls us to it.
Sometimes it whispers but other time it yells. We just have to pay attention and fly.
An example of this is when I was inspired to teach a free community class in a neighborhood park. That was in 2008! That class continues and has grown from 10 people to over a 150 on a weekly basis. Through that class I have made friendships, had many business opportunities and watched beautiful connections being made. This has been a proud of achievement and helped redefine what “success” means to me. Success isn’t necessarily about finances but more how one lives life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would visit the Pamm Museum and then have lunch there.
Cafecito at one of the many ventanitas in Little Havana
Have stone crabs and proseco at South Point park as the sun sets and we watch the cruise ships depart.
Go kayaking and hopefully see some manatees and dolphins.
Visit Vizcaya museum
Take a bike ride in the Everglades at Shark Valley and dodge alligators sunning themselves
Go to R House in Wynwood for a drag brunch
Have a lovely day at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary in Homestead and walk the earth
Take a boat ride and swim in the bay
Drive to the Keys
Go to Eatonville Florida, the oldest all-black town in the US and take a walking tour and visit the Zora Neale Hurston museum
Take a tour of the Art Deco buildings on South Beach

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love this question because life and living is about community. Without a village it’s difficult to grow and expand into your fullest potential. There are people dear to me like Dr. Chanti Tacoronte-Perez, Denira Borrero, Fred Tan, Dr. Michelle Weiner and so many more that have inspired and supported me. Without their love and ability to see my light and potential I don’t think I could have succeeded the way I have.
Although it might sound woo woo, the Divine Universal Energy has been my support for most of my life. Without deep faith and trust I would not have been able to align myself with the amazing opportunities that have come my way. The Divine has never abandoned me although from time to time I have abandoned Her. It feels so expansive to be on a solid path in trusting in the mystery.
I read Siddhartha in high school and I’d say that was the beginning of my spiritual quest. The books that have inspired me since then are the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, The Bhagavad Gita, I Am That and most recently A Shift in Being. Poems by Mary Oliver and Rumi can sometimes make me cry because they resonate so deeply in my heart.
