We had the good fortune of connecting with Yenny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yenny, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Cuba and, at the age of five, my mother & grandmother made a life-changing journey to the United States escaping the communist regime on a boat. We arrived in a new country with dreams of a better future. I was raised by strong, hardworking women who poured their resilience and determination into building a life here, I was shaped by their grit and sacrifices. Those early experiences, the need to hustle to survive, has made me who I am today, someone who cherishes hard work, embraces challenges, and carries a profound appreciation for the chance to forge my own path.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create art through my lens. I love capturing and transmitting emotions through my pictures. I think everyone sees the world in a different manner and there is beauty in that. Being able to look at something and capturing it in a way that maybe the next person can’t see is truly why I do what I do.

I am excited for the evolution of content – we live in a world of social media & technology and that really has shaped how people create. Just a few years bag you’d never imagine your average person on a website for a big brand. Now, that is exactly what sells. People crave authenticity.

Nothing in life comes easy. It takes dedication, hard work and consistency. It’s a saturated market for content creation and visual arts in general so showing up every day is what matters most. If you enjoy what you are doing, it becomes second nature.

The biggest lesson is to show up even when no one is clapping. Eliminate the need for validation and you will create for the love of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is the place to be! There is really so much to do. I’m a beach girl so the first place I’d take them would be to Miami Beach. We’d rent some beach chairs and tan for a few hours. For lunch I’d have to introduce them to a good Cuban sandwich from Versailles and of course a good cafecito. Everyone knows the party side to Miami but our city also has so many low key places to visit. I’d take them to VIzcaya Museum & Gardens, Perez Art Museum, Wynwood for a good burger at Skinny Louis. At night it really depends on what mood you are in because there’s something for EVERYONE! I love Sugar – a rooftop located inside the East hotel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible grandmother, a woman who embodies resilience and inspires me every day. She underwent a double lung transplant, defying unimaginable odds to get a second chance at life. Her strength in facing every obstacle imaginable; from health battles to the challenges of building a new life in the USA after leaving Cuba has shaped my perspective and fueled my passion for storytelling through content creation and photography. Her unwavering spirit and love have been the foundation of my journey, and I’m forever grateful for the example she sets. She deserves ALL the recognition for the fighter and inspiration she is.
