Meet Sybille Desormes | Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sybille Desormes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sybille, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
People, nature, relationships, and travel—all inspire me. I’m drawn to things that are vast and can’t be put in a box, and that’s how I like to approach both my work and life: thinking outside the box and leaning into the unknown. I’m inspired by my family every day, and by the relationships in my life, because of how unconditional they are. When you know you can jump as high as possible and someone will always be there to catch you, it’s hard not to dream big.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art feels very personal to me because I think about it from the audience’s perspective just as much as from a director’s. I do create art that I want to see, but in my current profession, I also make art that helps bring other people’s visions to life. Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to help others, and in a way, I’m doing that now by curating different visions and perspectives and bringing them to life—so others can see their business or brand at its full potential. I hope people will look at my art and pause for a moment to reflect on it. Along the way, I’ve learned that my art doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to exist and feel true to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would go to the beach at least three out of the five days. We’d try one of my favorite coffee shops each day—The Seed, Mane, Glimmer Cafe, Alma Matcha, Ren Coffee Cart, Composition, Vice City Bean, and Spud’s. We’d go mini golfing or take trail walks to spend time in nature, and I’d take them out on the town at least once. We’d do Pilates at one of the JETSET locations, and if it’s hockey season, we’re definitely going to a watch party. I’d visit the Pérez or The Bass, spend time sightseeing and walking around, looking for ice cream, and we’d drive up A1A to get home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom, 100%. She inspires, loves, and encourages me to go after everything I want, every single day. And whenever I have doubts, she’s always there to walk me through them.
My favorite book is The Alchemist. It tells the story of a boy on a journey to discover his personal legend. The first time I read it, it changed my life. This is actually the first time in about four years that I haven’t re-read it at the start of the year. I’ll pick it up again soon to remind myself to never give up—it will be just as powerful as the first time.
My boss and team at Chasing Sun Creative also inspire me in ways they probably don’t even realize. I’m so grateful to be learning from them. Especially Jackie—she inspires me just by being herself and always encourages me when I get too critical. She’s as good as they come when it comes to strong, compassionate leadership.
