Meet Agathe Milhomme | Psychotherapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Agathe Milhomme and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Agathe, how does your business help the community?
At Agape Health & Wellness, our mission is rooted in making a tangible difference in people’s lives. We provide accessible, high-quality mental health services to individuals across all life stages, from children and adolescents to adults and older adults because emotional and mental wellness is the foundation of a healthy and thriving community.
Our work directly addresses issues that affect not just individuals, but families and neighborhoods: trauma, depression, anxiety, stressors, grief, self-esteem challenges, life transitions and more. By offering evidence-based therapies, including trauma-informed care, CBT, mindfulness, and expressive art therapy, we create safe spaces where people can heal, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies.
We also serve underserved populations, including veterans, individuals with autism, and those facing financial or social barriers to care. Through partnerships, outreach, and community education, we work to reduce stigma around mental health and empower people to seek help before crises escalate.
The ripple effect is profound when individuals are healthier and more self-aware, families become stronger, workplaces more productive, and communities more connected. Our vision is not only to support personal transformation, but also to contribute to a culture of empathy, wellness, and collective healing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Agape Health & Wellness was born out of both professional experience and personal conviction. I saw a common problem, too many people were receiving fragmented care that didn’t address the whole person. I saw a need for more cultural understanding and connection in mental health care. I wanted to create a space where healing was compassionate, comprehensive, culturally competent, and empowering,
At Agape, cultural competence and understanding are at the heart of our work. We know that shared experiences and identity matter, especially for clients from minority, Hispanic, and Caribbean communities. Many of our clients of color have expressed feeling more understood and supported when their therapist recognizes the impact of cultural context, and lived experiences. We strive to break down barriers to mental health care by creating an environment that promote mental wellness where people feel an authentic connection and their feelings are validated, and understood.
Accessibility means making services available to people of all ages and backgrounds, including underserved populations. Quality means using proven, evidence-based approaches such as trauma-informed care, CBT, mindfulness, and expressive art therapy to meet clients where they are. Holistic wellness means going beyond symptom management to address the emotional, social, and personal barriers that prevent people from thriving.
I also wanted a practice that embraced creativity in the healing process, which is why expressive art therapy is such a meaningful part of our work. For many clients, especially those who struggle to put feelings into words, art becomes a bridge to self-discovery and emotional release.
Ultimately, starting my own business gave me the autonomy to align my work with my values empowering people to heal, grow, and create lasting change in their lives, while contributing to a healthier, more compassionate, and culturally inclusive community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I give all glory to God for guiding my steps and giving me the passion to serve others. I am forever grateful to my mother, Marie Calixte whose resilience and entrepreneurial spirit taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and creating opportunities where none seem to exist. Also, I would like to thank the mentors, colleagues, clients, and community partners who have inspired, supported, and trusted me along this journey.
