We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Halliday, LMHC-QS, CST and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Like many big changes, it started with a feeling- the sense that I could do more good if I built something of my own. In early 2020, just before the COVID shutdowns, I realized I wasn’t feeling fulfilled working for other group practices. I wanted the freedom to create something that truly reflected my values: therapy that felt warm, intentional, and deeply human. I also loved the idea of finding ways to thrive in the face of major challenges.

I took a leap, embraced virtual therapy, and started from scratch- one client, one lesson, one small win at a time. Around that same period, I bought my first home and had my first baby, and those milestones completely shifted my drive. I discovered that I thrive under responsibility and that every new commitment, whether personal or professional, made me more focused and determined to grow.

Today, Healing Space Therapy Collective represents that original dream — a place where compassion and professionalism coexist, where both clients and therapists feel supported, and where healing feels like coming home.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Healing Space Therapy Collective is a Miami-based mental health practice where we focus on individual therapy, couples therapy, and sex therapy to all of Florida. At the heart of what we do is a simple idea: therapy should feel human. We’re committed to offering care that’s clinically strong but also warm, affirming, and grounded in real connection. Clients often tell us they finally feel understood here, and that means everything to me.

What sets us apart is the atmosphere we’ve created. We take our work seriously and hold ourselves to the highest, most transparent standards of ethics and professionalism. BUT there’s nothing cold or intimidating about our approach. My team shows up with curiosity, compassion, and a genuine desire to help people grow. We deeply value holistic wellness and love collaborating with other healing professionals through workshops and special events, like group hypnotherapy, that help people explore their mental health in new ways.

Getting to this point was definitely not easy. I started alone in 2020, in the middle of a pandemic, with no roadmap and a lot of trial and error. I learned everything step by step: how to run a business, how to build systems, how to trust myself as a leader. In 2024, bolstered by the completion of my sex therapist and qualified supervisor certifications, I slowly grew a team of therapists who share my vision for high-quality, inclusive care.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that growth comes from showing up consistently, even when things feel uncertain. Every challenge taught me something, and every milestone reminded me why I started in the first place.

What I want the world to know about Healing Space Therapy Collective is this: we’re here to make therapy feel safe, accessible, and deeply human. We’re a team that leads with heart and integrity, and we’re proud of the community we’ve built— one that helps people feel supported, understood, and at home in their own healing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Miami for a week, I’d plan a mix of nature, hidden gems, and family-friendly spots that really show the heart of the city. This is the version of Miami that locals love.

We’d start with time outdoors. Oleta River State Park is always at the top of my list. Kayaking through the mangroves feels like an instant escape from city life. I also love Wolf Lake in Davie for its quiet, shaded trails and wide-open water views, and the beach-adjacent park on 85th Street and Collins, which is perfect for families, picnics, and slow oceanfront mornings without the crowded beach scene.

For food, I’d take them to my favorite spots that feel personal. Ricky Thai in North Miami is my go-to for unassuming, authentic Thai comfort food- the kind of place where the hospitality can’t be beat and you instantly feel like family. A big breakfast at Jimmy’s Diner is a must, where the chocolate chip banana pancakes were a quintessential part of my childhood. And for something special, the Setai weekend brunch is unbelievable: unlimited food, drinks, and entertainment in the most luxurious setting.

We’d also spend time at some of Miami’s quieter beaches — North Beach, Bal Harbour, and Bill Baggs at the tip of Key Biscayne, where you can climb the lighthouse and feel like you’re in the middle of the ocean. I would throw in some pilates at Renegade or yoga at Agni, and long, languishing bike rides through Miami Shores and El Portal to admire the historical architecture on quiet, residential roads. With kids, we’d add fun stops like the Miami Children’s Museum, the Frost Museum of Science, or an afternoon at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and plenty of outdoor playground adventures.

For a week-long visit, the rhythm would be simple: a mix of nature, good food, hidden gems, and plenty of time near the water. Miami has incredible energy, but the real magic is in the peaceful, tucked-away spots that make the city feel like home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Spencer, deserves so much credit for where I am today. His steady support has been the anchor that allows me to keep growing- not just through words of encouragement, but through the way he shows up every day. He prioritizes my work, cares for our child, and gives me the space to lead and create with a full heart.

I’m also deeply grateful for my amazing team of therapists at Healing Space Therapy Collective. Their dedication, compassion, and creativity bring our shared vision to life in ways I could have only imagined in the beginning. Together, we’ve built something truly special, a space for healing, collaboration, and growth.

To you all: Thank you so much, and look at how much we’ve accomplished!
