We had the good fortune of connecting with Luna Lombardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It’s funny because people assume I chose between art and skincare, but I never really did.

My background is in Fine Arts, Fine Art Photography, and Art Direction. I spent years working in fashion, and I even owned a tattoo studio in South Beach. At the same time, skincare was growing on the side. It started almost like a passion project that slowly became bigger and bigger until one day I realized it had become my full-time career.

If you scroll all the way down on my Instagram, you’ll actually see that journey. This year my Instagram turns 15 years old, and it was originally my personal account. You’ll see fashion, photography, tattoos, art, and then little by little, skincare starts taking over. I never deleted that history because it’s part of who I am.

For me, there’s always been a very thin line between beauty and art. I don’t see skincare as just treating skin. I see a face as a canvas. Every treatment is different, every person is different, and there is something incredibly creative about helping someone look like the healthiest, most confident version of themselves.

I also think art is everywhere. We are art. The way we dress, the spaces we create, the way we express ourselves. Sometimes I feel like we’re losing a little bit of that. Everything is becoming black, gray, minimal, and optimized. Creativity feels like it’s getting quieter.

It’s actually funny because I have to catch myself sometimes. I’ll be designing something for Instagram, and suddenly I realize I’ve gone full art director mode. Then I have to laugh and remind myself, “Okay… this is still a skincare page.” I have to pull myself back and remember that people are here to learn about skin.

So I don’t think I ever stopped being an artist. I just found a different canvas. Today, that canvas happens to be people’s skin.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t see beauty as a transaction, and I don’t see my clients as numbers.

I’ve reached a point in my career where I’m not interested in just doing a treatment and saying, “See you next month.” My clients become part of my life, and I become part of theirs. I know about their kids, their families, their relationships, what happened over the weekend, whether they’re stressed, whether they’re sleeping well. I treat the whole person, not just their skin.

For me, skincare is both science and art. The science helps me understand what’s happening biologically, but the art is understanding the human being sitting in front of me. You can’t separate one from the other.

I’m fascinated by epigenetics and biohacking (I’ve been a biohacker for years… even before biohacking became trendy. 🙄), because your skin doesn’t exist on its own. Your sleep, your stress, your nutrition, your hormones, your recovery, your inflammation… they all show up on your face.

That’s why I ask so many questions. I’m not being nosy. I’m trying to understand the whole picture. If you’ve been sleeping four hours a night, going through a divorce, dealing with chronic stress, or eating ultra-processed food every day, your skin is going to tell me that story.

When I moved my business to Coral Gables, it completely changed my career, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything that happened there. Now I’ve relocated to Sunny Isles, and instead of being afraid to start over, I’m excited. I don’t believe we have to stay stuck in old patterns just because they’re comfortable. Sometimes the best thing you can do is give yourself permission to begin again.

At the end of the day, I’m not just someone’s esthetician, and they’re not just another appointment on my calendar. We’ve built relationships, friendships, and trust. I think that’s what people remember long after the facial is over, and to me, that’s the real art behind what I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This question makes me laugh because my best friend actually lives across the street from my new studio.

Honestly, I love her to death, and we’re both homebodies. We don’t want to leave the house for anything in the world.

So if she came over, we’d probably stay at my place, play with my two Sphynx cats, catch up on life, gossip for hours, order food, and maybe have a pornstar martini.

She’s probably the only person I’d ever do a house call facial for… and guess what? I never have. 😂 She’s going to kill me when she reads this.

As for the perfect trip? We’d probably leave the country and find some sketchy clinic that promises to permanently change her eye color… because for some reason, that’s been our running joke for years. 😂

Honestly, the destination doesn’t really matter. As long as we’re together, we’ll somehow manage to turn absolutely nothing into a story we’ll be laughing about for the next ten years.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, I’m so happy this interview is online because if it were in person, I’d probably pull a Snoop Dogg and thank myself.

Of course, I’m grateful for everyone who has believed in me, trusted me, and supported me along the way.

But honestly, I’ve done a lot for myself. Especially over the past few years. All the hardest battles I’ve faced… that was me.

So, if I had to dedicate this shoutout to someone, it would be to myself. Because honestly, I deserve it.
