We had the good fortune of connecting with Sue & Drew Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sue & Drew, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our business is one that provides live music to various other local businesses in the South Florida area such as restaurants, bars, nightclubs and casinos. Music is very powerful and universally a huge part of everyone’s life. It is known to have the the ability to change your mood, the atmosphere and is even known to have a beneficial effect on the brain. Music is huge – it has the ability to connect people, reduce stress and release tension. One of the main focuses of our business/band is to play various genres of upbeat, fun and danceable rock, contemporary and pop rock music that appeals to everyone. We also benefit the community by providing our services to various non-profits’ at fundraisers, etc. Our business also provides live music at corporate events, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, themed parties and more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our band, Exit Left strives to be a fun & exciting band. Despite quite a few growing pains, changes and challenges in the beginning, we feel that we have gained patience and experience and as such perfected our brand. We perform and have performed at both large events as well as smaller more intimate events and we strive to be different by specializing in playing crowd favorites and making sure that everyone is dancing or singing along and having a great time. Additionally, our songs are selected based on fan feedback. We are also a diverse and unique four piece cover band as we do not have one dedicated lead singer. Instead, we all take turns singing lead vocals throughout the sets. Having a female and two male lead singers enables us to perform a powerful combination of all the best Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, and danceable Classic/Pop Rock music from the 1960’s through the 2000s.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough question as there are many fun spots in South Florida such as Lincoln’s Beard Brewery, Sunset Tavern/Deli Lane, Pub 52 has an excellent menu and amazing cocktails, Ken & Mikes in Miami Lakes has the BEST Italian food and pizza, Casino Miami/Jai Alai – a lot of history there, Miami Beach, Hollywood Beach Broadwalk/Margaritaville for some live music, Sandbar, Blackpoint Marina, Gilbert’s in Key Largo for drinks and some live music then Sloppy Joe’s in Key West.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We actually have a few shout outs we’d like to give. First and foremost we’d like to give a huge shoutout to ALL of the restaurants, bars, nightclubs and casinos out there who are major supporters and providers of live music as well as excellent service. Jada Coles, Sunset Tavern, Key Biscayne Yacht Club, Casino Miami, Pub 52, Lincoln’s Beard Brewery, Sandbar Cutler Bay, Blackpoint Grille, Glades Club, Gilbert’s Resort, The Big Easy Casino, Flossie’s Bar & Grill, etc. Additionally, we’d like to give another shoutout to our friends and bandmates, Ed Castillo, Oscar Perez and Paco Camara. Without their hard work, dedication, support and talent we would not be who/where we are today!
