Meet Yesenia Benitez | Owner of Raw South

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yesenia Benitez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yesenia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My perseverance and dedication are the keys to my success. As cliche as it may sound, I firmly believe that where there is a will there is a way; as such, I don’t take no for an answer. I believe that anything is possible with hard work, dedication, commitment, a positive attitude, loving support system, faith in oneself and in the Almighty.

What should our readers know about your business?
Raw South is a plant-based, juice and healthy eats spot, which has become a local favorite. It is owned and operated by Miami-resident Yesenia (Jessy) Benitez, with the
help of her three children – Henry, Veronica and Lucas Gomez – and the support of a
loyal and hard-working all-female staff. The shop’s menu includes delicious smoothies, juices, wellness shots, acai bowls, soups, salads, wraps and breakfast all day. Raw South recently opened its second storefront on Sunset Drive. It’s first storefront opened its doors in 2014. The Sunset location provides a more diverse menu in an elevated space. Aside from offering healthy eats, the brand focuses on promoting overall health and wellness.. To this end, the brand recently launched a monthly IG LIVE series, titled “In the Raw,” where Jessy talks all things wellness with local experts in different fields, as she strives to nourish the mind, body and soul of the Raw South community. The next segment airs live on May 19 and will focus on skincare.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to connect with nature. I am a firm believer that oneness with nature not only promotes a deep sense of peace, but also supports physical health and overall wellness. My favorite destination spot is the beach. I love spending time in and around the water with my kids, on my time off.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My awesome kids! Veronica, Henry and Lucas are my everything – my reasons for pushing through each and every day. They inspire me to be better and do better daily. I am beyond proud of the amazing human beings they are, and blessed to fulfill my professional aspirations with them by my side.
