Needing to go to school to be taken seriously. Don’t get me wrong, some careers do require education to maximize your value, but creative things such as art, culinary, music, whatever, your best teacher is real world experience. I think as a creative, you are doing yourself an injustice by allowing someone to tell you how to do YOU! If you really want to follow your dreams, connect with like-minded people who will inspire you to be the best version of you! THAT is worth more than any piece of paper a university can give you. One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is that I should find a job that has more promise, something more sustainable than Art. Because as a child I had the freedom to focus in different areas of art and major in Theater Arts in college, I’ve been awarded the opportunity to see how art is more of a strategic way of thinking rather than just an industry.
