We had the good fortune of connecting with Tashana Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tashana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I know that without risk, there is no reward. In my life, I am consistently taking risks whether it is investing in a new business idea or starting a new hobby like scuba diving. I pride myself in being able to exist in spaces that are uncomfortable because that’s where growth happens. I am not afraid to be vulnerable and an amateur in a new spaces. My goal isn’t to be a know it all, my mission is to learn as much as possible, so that I can continue to develop and get to my next goal post. Taking risks has allowed me to have an open mindset, I do not live with mental limitations. I know that anything I put my mind to, I can accomplish. Now self awareness is an important component to taking risks in my life, but the greatest gift of relinquishing the fear associated with risk is that I receive so many more blessings and opportunities in my life. With risk comes continuing evolution in my professional and personal life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My main goal when creating art is to influence people to grow, whether that is by sharing scenarios I’ve gone through and how I’ve triumphed or just simply speaking life into others. I hope to influence people to look into themselves to develop true confidence. I can say, I am most proud of my perseverance, I never give up. I just continue to explore more ways I can creatively express myself so people can perceive it. Right now I am working on some music that is forcing me to learn more about myself which is exciting, but at the same time very challenging. Luckily with the support and guidance of my team, I am able to continue to develop myself as a professional creative. Without them, it’s possible that I could get in my own way because being someone who is an entrepreneur, I wear a lot of hats and it takes practice to learn how to manage that kind of lifestyle. I overcome the hard times by staying grounded, which for me looks like prayer, mediation, family time, traveling and just simply putting in the work. Over the years, I’ve learned patience and the importance of rest. Rome wasn’t built in one day, so learning to put the time in and then stepping back to reflect or acquire new skills has been key for me. I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty in being social and meeting new people. Art is life and life is meant to be lived. When someone comes across me or my brand, my story. I want them to be empowered, to love themselves, to know that true jewels lie within.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places to go for food/drinks/hangout: Pier 115 in Edgewater, New Jersey, Nohu Rooftop Bar & Restaurant in Weehawken, New Jersey, El Tango in Englewood, New Jersey, Chart house in Weehawken, New Jersey. Sojo Spa Club in Edgewater, New Jersey, Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York, Victory Sports Bar in East Rutherford.. just to name a few.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This question is very easy for me. I have to dedicate my success and life to my mother, Maxine Burns. She has raised me singlehandedly to always think outside the box, whether that be through her actions or her words. She has not only held down the fort for our little family, but she is constantly lending a helping hand and providing for others around her. She is one of the most hardest working, vivacious, ambitious, intelligent and generous people I will ever know. My mother has curated a life that showed me how to take risks, how to value myself from the inside out, how to be a leader, how to recover from losses, how to strategize risks, how to provide for myself, how to look at life in abundance.

“The world is your oyster”, “Soar with the eagles and you will ascend”, “Make sure you have your own money”,”Choose your friends and your partner wisely”,”There is good, better and best. You deserve the best”. When my mother speaks, she speaks with conviction. When she makes moves, things happen. She introduced me at a very young age to business conventions, real estate, travel, fine living, humble country living.. everything you can think of. She has sown so many seeds into me the best way she could and I will forever be grateful for her because it has allowed me to develop into a woman that sees no limitation and can look at life from all different perspectives.
