Meet Jamie Maitland | Group Fitness/spin instructor & certified holistic nutritionist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Maitland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There was honestly no group fitness studio in the area that offered everything I wanted (fitness wise) under one roof. At the time I was doing a lot of pure barre, hiit workouts, spin and sculpt classes however, I had to travel to several different studios to get variety. To solve this problem, I decided to create my own! 🙂

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a very unique fitness studio called “The Office”, it was created to deliver a group fitness concept that differed from everything else in the South Florida area. We are a result driven studio that welcomes all fitness levels, our classes are designed to maintain the perfect balance of consistency and confusion for your muscles. We host only 12 spots per class which allows our hand picked and elite coaches to closely monitor your efforts. MUSIC & VIBE are everything! This is very important to us, just as important as the workouts are. Our high ceiling workout room features colorful mood lighting that will change depending on your class, as well as a crystal clear sound system that will rival any night club. The Office is not only visually unique, it is a one stop shop fitness studio where you can get all different styles of workouts under one roof. Equipment will vary from a ballet barre, to boxing bags, spin bikes, to dumbbells that range from 5lb to 100lbs.

I got where I am today by hard work, maintaining a positive mental attitude and my family. I defiantly had my challenges with my first business, I learned some tough life lessons however, I am thankful everyday for that experience. It made me more aware as a business owner and I walked away with priceless knowledge of knowing what NOT do to for the next concept.

I want the world to know that I actually give a f*ck to put it bluntly, lol. I eat sleep and breathe fitness/health/wellness, it’s what makes me most happy. Motivation I would say is one of my main gifts, I know how challenging in can be at times to make time for the gym or make the right decision when it comes to what your eating for lunch. I want my brand THE OFFICE to represent motivation, strength and balance. My hope for the future is to create not only a motivating fitness space but a health food concept that will keep everyone eating clean on a consistent basis!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Heritage which is a very cool chill Italian spot on flagler village then I would walk over to a video game bar called “glitch” and play some old school games, listen to an array of music from there awesome dj and enjoy. The following day I would take them to get a workout in at THE OFFICE 🙂 OR go for a rollerblade at birch state park. Some of my favorite places in South Florida are:

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my parents, not only have they encouraged me every step of the way but they allowed me to transform what was once their “office” into my “office” My parents have owned the building that houses my fitness concept since the late 90’s. It was quite literally used as their office back in the day and they allowed me to renovate and turn it into a unique boutique group fitness studio called, THE OFFICE. I would like to also give a shout out to my loyal clients and close friends!
