We had the good fortune of connecting with Bertha Osorio-Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bertha, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I choose to care for my patients holistically and want each and everyone of them to achieve optimal health because I know it’s possible. I also know that many diseases can be reversed as opposed to just being managed. Finding the root cause of your illness is totally attainable and feeling great isn’t just for the rich. Insurance companies require a diagnosis to pay providers and often times this leads to prescribing a pill for the ill in order to tame it without ever figuring out how to cure it. I do not deal with insurance companies or conventional medicine protocols because everyone doesn’t fit into an algorithm and quite frankly it isn’t working. Taking multiple prescribe meds is not the answer to optimal health. It’s time people take health into their own hands and demand better… hell demand BEST!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a holistic nurse practitioner and I practice functional medicine. What that means is I look for the root cause of the issue as opposed to managing the issue with prescription medications. I also integrate medicine which means I understand that there are times when prescription medications are needed to triage an issue until a long term solution is obtained. I have always practiced this way from the time I graduated and I am keen on practicing what I preach. Even though I have always worked in functional medicine practices, things were never 100% done to my satisfaction. It was money driven and not patient centered. I decided to take the leap and go 100 percent solo. The beginning of this year I left the comfort of working for other practices and branched out my coaching practice. The Institute of Optimal Healing & Aesthetics expands upon my already established coaching practice Mind Body Spirit, Reformers LLC by providing concierge house calls for IV nutrient therapy, hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy, supplement therapy, microneedling PRP facials, specialized blood work and consults, botox and fillers and hair restoration services. With my practice model I am able to fully care for my patients with a clear conscious knowing I am helping them achieve optimal healing and longevity in their life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live where people want to vacation so there are so many things to do, see and taste. I would give them a culinary experience like no other by visiting farm to table restaurants such as Plant Miami and Full Bloom Vegan in Miami Beach. We may be in South Florida but we have cuisine that represents the whole world. We are known for doing Brunch right so I’d make sure to take them to places like Shooters Waterfront Cafe and Boatyard. Great happy hour choices include Tap 42, Rooftop and Lola’s. We would definitely be hitting the beaches of Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. We would do water sports in Miami Beach such as jet skiing, speed boating and parasailing. I know a few hidden gem spots that are exclusive and I would surely take them there as well. For some read adventure I would take them scuba diving and snorkeling. Sightseeing would include spots like the Dry Tortugas in the Keys, the Everglades, hit up a few museums and head to the famous South Beach and Las Olas for night life. Nothing would be spared in showing them a great time in Sunny South Florida!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother Ethel, God rest her soul, began to instill holistic healing from I was a young child. She always had a root for every disturbance and she despised going to the doctor. She refused to take prescription medications and she preferred her bush teas and home remedies over them. As I grew older people like my mother Tracy, my aunt Bev, teachers, and friends all nurtured those efforts my grandmother gave me. Eventually my own path to healing and craving the education I never got in traditional school led me to choose this way of helping people.
