We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Lyons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Three words I think play a key role in doing anything and doing it well are: Consistency, Discipline & Persistence. Discipline is the bridge between goal and accomplishments. Consistency is the true foundation of trust, and in this aspect I mean trust in yourself. Either you keep your promises or do not make them. I always like to say, If you dont show up for yourself, how can you possibly show up for anyone else. Last but definitely not least, Persistence to me is like smiling in the face of adversity. There is always a way. I think by drilling this core principles into my mind it definitely helped me to get where I am today.
What should our readers know about your business?
Paradise Child prides itself on being an All Natural, Eco-friendly, Non-Toxic skin care brand that is authentically Jamaican. We have created the world’s first coffee scrub with 100% Blue Mountain Coffee, which is one of if not the most rare coffee in the world. What sets us apart from other coffee scrubs on the market is of course that we use 100% Blue Mountain Coffee in every bag, but our coffee grounds are the finest in texture, almost like powder, so it is extremely gentle on the skin. We also as I mentioned before pride ourself on being complelty non-toxic, so we dont use any form of harsh chemicals, alchohols or “fragrance” that will end up drying out the skin or causing any irritation. The tropical aromas you get from our scrubs come from organic essential oils. Paradise isn’t just a place, its a feeling. When you open a bag of our coffee scrubs you truly feel like your’re in a tropical paradise in your own bathroom.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So, I think if you truly want to experince a place, you must dive into its culture. Miami for example, one of the first places that is the “focal point” of all diversities coming together would be Wynwood. You get the dynamics of art, architecture, all different types of fusion of food and music, so this would definitly be number one on the list. Now you cant go to Miami or Florida and NOT go to the beaches, and you have an amazing line up, so if we were feeling more upbeat I would probably suggest a stroll down south beach or Fort Lauderdale Beach or if the vibe was a little more laid back then there’s also Key Biscayne. As an island girl there would have to be some natural coconut water involved, so thats another stop we would have to make. I would also want to take her to the Visacya Museum & Gardens & the Perez Art Museum. All amazing places to see some great art & architecture.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Partner & Husband Anu El, who helped me from the birth of the idea. He has played an important role in many departments, from graphic desinger to financial advisor etc. Paradise Child wouldnt be where it is today without him. Also, Jason Sharp of Coffee Traders Ltd Jamaica / Cafe Blue, who is the source of the Authentic Blue Mountain Coffee found in every bag of Paradise Child Coffee Scrubs. Jason is also like a mentor and has also been there with me every step of the way. He has given me amazing insight and advice that has really helped shape the business into what it is. Last but not least, my Mom who believed in my from the very start and helped to motivate me and allowed me to turn half of the house into a chemistry lab. These people play a truly importatnt role not just in Paradise Child, but also in my life and I am eternally grateful.
