We had the good fortune of connecting with Anilly Cona and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anilly, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor is definitely the DETERMINATION behind each piece. It takes a lot of focus to slow down in this fast paced world and listen to what your creative soul is pushing you to create.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is loud, eccentric, bright, a direct extension of me… Each piece is special, and it’s crazy to think that the moment I set up my studio to work….I actually never know what its gonna be. I simply put on my favorite playlist & give it all I got. Starting & loading the piece with so much love & intention. But it wasn’t always easy. It took me a long time to feel this free within the art I make and there was a time where I didn’t even consider myself an artist…It was only a hobby but as I got older I began to really understand how important it is to choose a career you will wake up every morning to love. Then about 4 years ago, I realized that there was a specific type of life I wanted. I didn’t want to live the same cycle anymore…wakeup, work, sleep & repeat. In order for me to create the life I wanted…I need to start somewhere. So I began to paint & sing everywhere I went. until It turned into what it is today, Creative Soul Miami. What I want people to know is that when you find something you love, trust it and allow it to teach you, finding what you love isn’t the end of the journey. IT IS THE BEGINNING of a beautiful learning process everyone should experience. I always say, Art has shaped who I am today.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’d probably choose a beautiful park to enjoy the outdoors, invite friends & family, rock the grill, make some killer homemade margaritas, play some reggae music, set up some hammocks and boom! I’m a very simple person, my favorite place to do this is at the North Shore Park in Miami Beach. I don’t think the place is what makes it special, its the people that you share those moments with. When you think this way, ANY PLACE can become a SPECIAL place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shout out to all the first responders on the front lines fighting in the midst of the pandemic. To all the teachers striving to keep young minds inspired & all my fellow artists keeping art alive. And I’d like to also shine a special light on my parents for always encouraging me to fight for my dreams. Los Amo, para siempre con todo mi ser. Thank you for everything.
