24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week. Junior investment bankers regularly work 80-90 hours a week. Many other high profile professions require the same level of commitment. Often those on the outside claim that working 80-90 hours a week is bad/wrong/terrible/silly/etc but we’ve spoken with so many folks who say working that much has been the best decision of their life – it allowed them to develop a deep and strong skill set far faster than would have been possible otherwise. In other words, by working 2x the hours, they were able to generate 5x or more the rewards. And depending on where you are in your career, investing heavily in your skills and competence can pay dividends for a long time.

Diego Tirigall | Vanguard of Modern Street Art & Urban Expressionism

I guess it’s probably because I’m a bit of a workaholic, haha, but if I have to pinpoint one or two key factors behind my success, I’d say it’s my ability to really tap into the issues of our times while also taking an entrepreneurial approach against a somewhat rigid art system. Take my ‘Unhealthy Preserves’ collection, for example. I use Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s soup cans to represent how social media is kinda feeding us the most unsubstantial content, much like junk food, filling our minds with the trivial and superficial. It’s my way of bringing contemporary concerns to the forefront, illustrating the real impact of our digital lives. And with ‘Singularity’, I’ve been exploring AI for quite a while, way before trends like ChatGPT hit the mainstream. Read more>>

I attribute my current success primarily to perseverance and consistency. As an artist, embracing failure is essential for eventual success, especially when submitting for open calls, residencies, or entering competitions. It’s not uncommon to face numerous rejections before finding that one person or team who resonates with your work. The same principle applies to selling art; although hundreds may view your creations without making a purchase, it just takes one person to connect deeply and become a collector. Perseverance, in my case, is coupled with consistency. I’ve diligently ensured that my work is consistently visible, adhering to the themes and vision of my art practice, and maintaining a high standard of quality. Read more>>

The service industry is built around people. So that’s where we focus our efforts. Recruitment of top-caliber individuals, training and developing them, and providing growth and a career path are very important. On our first try, we were recently awarded the “Great Place to Work” designation in the US and Canada, which has been extremely powerful in attracting the right people to our organization. It’s vital for us to understand why the residents we serve choose to live in their community, whether it’s a luxury high-rise in Brickell or a master-planned HOA in Coral Gables. What’s important to them? Where are they in their life journey? What’s the brand and story of their community? Only then can we best support their property values and provide their desired lifestyle. The most important factor behind our success is our understanding that we had to build our own infrastructure. We built our team and business with that in mind. Vertical integration was the goal and we achieved it by building our own recording studio. We brought on a creative director to handle all things digital. Animation, graphic and website design is all done in house. We partnered with a company that manages all of the artist’s merch. This helped us avoid holding to dead inventory. Read more>>
