Meet alexandrea krueger | Hair Stylist + Salon owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with alexandrea krueger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi alexandrea, how do you think about risk?
I personally believe that taking a risk always results in the success. I became a single mom at the young age of 19, I put myself through cosmetology school while having to work full time to support my son. I worked in other salons for years and one day I had a feeling that I was meant to open something of mine own. I was no financially stable in the place I was working so I took a risk and opened a single studio of my own, not knowing how if I would make it or not, I ended up becoming successful and being able to provide a place for my son and I to live on our own. I eventually decided to close my doors due to covid and having a newborn, so I could focus on my family. I went back into the industry 2 almost 3 years later, worked a local salon and a 3 months into my employment I saw a Facebook ad for a salon space for rent. I had zero dollars to put into a business, I was barely able to pay my bills but I knew the holy spirit was telling me this was for me. I got approved, I was gifted money from my family to help me get started and on my feet. I spent every last dime I was given on redoing the space and I am glad to say that a year later we are an amazing successful salon. Every risk I have ever taken put me on the path that God designed for me, it changed my life for the better. I am able to give a life to my kids that I did not have the luxury of. I am able to give back to my community and poor into the people that need it more than I do. Success to me isn’t an amount of money I am earning, it is knowing that I can make an impact on people around me for the better.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a hair stylist is not just about highlighting, cutting, or coloring. It is about so much more, its about helping people feel beautiful and comfortable within their own skin. We create such personal relationships with our clients, we are there to help them through their toughest times and celebrate their happiest moments. We watched their kids grow up and they watch ours, we are meant to be a safe place for the people that come to see us. In my salon we never want someone to feel uncomfortable, judged or over looked. We engage all together as a salon, we our the biggest cheerleaders for not only the client in our chair but every client in the salon. We not competitive and we know our strengths and weaknesses. Being a salon owner is difficult and I have had to overcome so many challenges in life, and I still deal with them everyday. The beauty industry is very judgmental and there are so many people out there who want to see you fail. You have to not let that bother you and when it does you just need to remind yourself that those voices do not matter. There will always be somebody that thinks they are better then you and there will always be people that do not like the work you do and that is okay because there are so many more people that love you and the work you do and just want to see you succeed. In our salon we welcome everyone, whether you are a stylist or not, we will support you and be there for you. We as a team will help you succeed in any aspect of life. As a business owner I am extremely blessed to have gotten the team of stylist that I do, they really have become such a bigger part of me then just my ’employees’. I feel that it is important to make your people feel like your people and not just another number, that is going to make them want to put in their best efforts and be proud of the work they do and be proud of where they work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many amazing things about Florida. I would plan lunches almost everyday at different spot on the water in Jupiter. I would plan a boat day, a paddle boarding day to Peanut Island. A day on the Brightline to visit downtown Miami and the Aventura mall. I would also plan for nights out at the local tiki bars with life music and a fun vibe.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My son Jayden, he gave a meaning to my life. My Daughter Layne who makes me want to be a better woman. My Husband Travis who supports me in every way. My mother who raised me on her own and showed me what the true meaning of a strong woman. My grandmother who has blessed our family when we needed it most. My closest friends who encourage and support me every single day and Jesus, that one that allows me to life this beautiful life and never steers me the wrong way.
