We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Amadeo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audrey, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m deeply inspired by the resilience, creativity, and joy of individuals on the autism spectrum. Every event, every interaction reminds me how powerful the arts can be in building connections, fostering expression, and celebrating uniqueness. I’m also inspired by the families, caregivers, and educators who show up every day with love, patience, and determination—they motivate me to keep growing our foundation and finding new ways to support this incredible community.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Arts for Autism Foundation was born from a deep belief in the power of creativity to connect, empower, and uplift individuals with autism. What sets us apart is our focus on using the arts as a bridge—helping individuals express themselves, build confidence, and find community in a world that doesn’t always feel inclusive. I’m incredibly proud of the events and programs we’ve created, especially the joy and sense of belonging they bring to families who often feel unseen.

Getting to this point wasn’t easy. Like many entrepreneurs in the nonprofit space, I faced challenges in funding, awareness, and just finding the right partnerships. But what kept me going was the vision and the faces of the students and families who reminded me why this work matters. I’ve learned that perseverance, collaboration, and staying true to your mission are everything. What I want the world to know is that this isn’t just a foundation—it’s a movement. A movement rooted in compassion, inclusion, and the belief that every individual deserves the chance to shine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d be so excited to show them the heart and soul of Miami through the eyes of someone born and raised here in a Cuban family. First stop would definitely be my hometown of Miami Lakes—there’s something so special about the charm of Main Street. We’d grab cafecito at Vicky Bakery and take a morning stroll around the beautiful tree-lined streets or Miami Lakes Picnic Park West.

We’d spend a day exploring Wynwood’s vibrant art scene, another day in Little Havana enjoying Cuban food, live music, and a stop at Domino Park. I’d take them to Versailles for a classic Cuban meal and later to Ball & Chain for dancing and mojitos. One night would be all about the energy of Brickell—great restaurants like Komodo or Cafe La Trova (a must!), followed by rooftop drinks at Sugar.

Of course, no trip is complete without some beach time—South Beach for the vibe, but I’d also sneak in a quieter afternoon at Key Biscayne or Crandon Park. And since we’re community-driven at heart, I’d plan for them to attend a local event like our Arts for Autism Fair if the timing is right—because nothing says “Miami Lakes” like neighbors coming together for a good cause.

The people here—warm, passionate, and full of life—make Miami and Miami Lakes truly special. I’d want them to leave feeling not just like they visited, but like they belonged.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey wouldn’t be what it is without the incredible support system I’ve been blessed with. I dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to my family—my parents, sister, husband, and daughters—whose love, encouragement, and belief in me have carried me through every challenge and triumph. I’m also deeply grateful to the mentors and colleagues who have guided me with their wisdom and encouragement throughout my academic and professional path. And most importantly, I want to recognize the students I serve, especially those with autism—they are the heart of everything I do and the true inspiration behind the Arts for Autism Foundation.
