We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Pace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becca, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When I lived in NYC, it was pretty much work, work, work…with very little “life”. I was burnt out most days and all I really wanted was couch time with a mindless show to tune out to. Now that I work for myself, and live in a place that feels like vacation every day, the life part of that balancing act has totally leveled out! I now make self-care and rest a priority – a non-negotiable. Because I get great sleep and am not running myself completely into the ground, I have so much more energy to give back to my clients, students, and most importantly, to me!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hi! I’m Becca Pace. Formally a musical theater actress, I transitioned into group fitness and personal training just over a decade ago. Most of my experience was in NYC, where the hustle never ended, and where I worked my tail off over the years to get to the top of my game there. I was fortunate to teach for many boutique studios as well as Equinox and Lifetime gyms, plus I am a founding instructor with the pioneers of online fitness: www.dailyburn.com.

Competition is super high in NYC (the mecca of fitness and wellness), and I’m grateful to have been taught and mentored by some of the best in the industry who pushed me to be my best, and to always be authentic in what I do. I believe their guidance and my people-person personality pushed me to great success there.

When covid happend, NYC’s fitness scene came to a screeching hault, and all of my teaching gigs were gone overnight. Finding myself jobless, without direction, and emotionally lost…I decided to make a big change. Last September (6 months into the pandemic) I made an impulsive decision to uproot my nearly 20 years in NYC, and I moved down to the beautiful beaches of South Florida!! Trading in the concrete jungle for a tropical one was just exactly what I needed to reset, and reevaluate my career and where I saw myself growing as a teacher.

Change isn’t always easy, however, I’m proud that I trusted my instincts to do it anyway. Now that I am self-employed, I am in total control of the creative process in all my programming, classes, and projects, and that makes it worth it all!! I have a successful virtual studio (2 years this month!) that has grown into a beautiful community of people from all over the country and world. It’s given me a chance to reconnect with old students, connect with new ones, and stay connected through movement any time, from anywhere!

My motto in life and in what I do is to find the silver linings in situations. We can’t control the future, nor can we change the past, but we can embrace today and see the good in it. That’s not to say challenges don’t arise – it’s how we deal with them and overcome them that successes can happen!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, most of my close friends still live in the Northeast (NYC specifically), so a must-do on our itinerary would be to visit the local beaches! I’m fortunate to be about a 10min walk from a beautiful beach where hardly anyone goes, so the serenity would be welcomed to anyone escaping the city! I’m also a huge nature lover, so I’d take them to Butterfly World to see all of the beautiful species there.

I’ve not had a bad meal yet since living here, but a few stand out places to eat would be Rose’s Daughter and Caminos Restaurant in downtown Delray. For a sexy vibe, we’d travel north a bit to Nomad in West Palm; and of course, if there’s live music we’d go experience the local talent! Boho House in Miami is another stand out hot spot with ambiance that is incredible! (Great DJ’s!)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shout out my dear friend, Dina Ivas for being by my side this past year and a half, helping to encourage, support and hype whenever I needed it!
