Meet Burning Glass | Alternative Rock Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Burning Glass and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Burning Glass, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music makes us feel whole and cathartic. It is a great way to express yourself and connect with people and the best way to let people know who you are. We can only see ourselves doing this. We are a slave to the sonic waves projecting from our amps, pounding throughout our chests. Music is a magnet that pulls onto our souls; every cell of our body leads us into this path. Music is the most potent art; it has an authentic and powerful meaning. We are trying to inspire those around us as the influences our favorite musicians, bands, and idols have had on us. That influence has carried such strong feelings throughout us, and we would love to share that power, drive, and emotion with others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Local bands write lyrics to throw words onto their songs. Our lyricist, Evan, pours everything he has into our songs; he doesn’t care how long it takes to write the perfect verse or line. What makes us different from others that we’ve noticed is that we create and perform because this is what we want to do. We love making songs and having them express ourselves. If we succeed in this, we will do what we love. Most alt-rock bands see Alternative rock as a style; they focus more on the look than the sound itself. We have a genuine love for the alt-rock sound, and we try our best to make it our own thing. We have a sound that isn’t like anything else. We have inspiration but don’t go about being them. We are finding and following our sound. We aren’t trying to be anyone but ourselves.
We fell into a weird but perfect timing. We have been fortunate to know people associated with our local music scene. We wouldn’t be where we are without those friends in our life. Much growth is needed; we have so much to learn. A lesson we’ve learned is to know when to stand your ground. Only some people are going to be cooperative. Not everyone will see things for how they are, which can cause relationship difficulties.
“We want our shows to be a place where we can be free, have fun, let ourselves go, and encourage our fans to let themselves go too.” – Iris
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start with lunch at Cholo Soy Cocina and probably hit the Norton Art Museum. If we were heading into the evening, we could go to downtown Lake Worth to see some great characters and hit up Propaganda for live music. Downtown Delray has fantastic restaurants and activities like Ramen Lab and Silverball Retro Arcade. You can go to Aioli for an excellent breakfast in the West Palm area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
David Gibble, Stephen Scott, Pete Wentz the 3rd, Dave Eric Grohl, Gina DeRiso, Wyatt Shears, Kurt Cobain, Stu Mackenzie have all had great inspiration into our writing, connection and growth with another.
