We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitlin Sarian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caitlin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I saw a huge disconnect between how important cybersecurity is and how little most people actually understand it. Hollywood has made cybersecurity seem scary, complicated, and daunting, when in reality, it’s simple and essential for everyone nowadays. So many of the resources out there felt too technical or out of reach for the average person. I wanted to change that by making cybersecurity simple, relatable, and human, something people could actually use to protect themselves and their families.

At the same time, I wanted to spark interest in cybersecurity as a career, especially for women and girls. When I was starting out, I didn’t see many people who looked like me in this field, and I know how discouraging that can feel. I wanted to create something that made this industry more approachable and showed people they belong here too.

What started as a passion project turned into a platform that’s helping people protect themselves and realize they have a place in this field—no matter their background or experience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My “art” is turning something that usually feels overwhelming, cybersecurity, and making it simple, approachable, and even empowering. What sets me apart is how I take technical concepts and turn them into content that feels real and relatable. I speak directly to the everyday person who just wants to feel safe online and I show them that they can take control of their online lives.

I’m most proud of how far this has come. What started as a few videos to help people understand online safety has grown into a global brand that educates millions and inspires the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. I’m especially proud that young women are seeing my content and realizing there’s a place for them in tech.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome, been on the receiving end of online hate, and questioned whether people thought I was just a “diversity hire”, even though I knew how hard I worked and how worthy I was of every role and opportunity. Being a woman in a male-dominated field can feel isolating, but I kept pushing forward because I knew my presence and my voice mattered.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this: if your content helps, educates, or inspires even one person, it’s worth creating. And beyond that, the real power comes when you embrace your full self. Don’t try to do what everyone else is doing. Don’t shrink yourself to fit into a box that was never built for you. Own every part of your story, the good, the bad, and the messy, and share your unique truth. That’s where the real connection and impact come from.

What I want the world to know is this: cybersecurity isn’t just for experts in hoodies behind a screen. It’s for moms, creators, students, small business owners, everyone. And you don’t have to change who you are to belong in this space. The more you lean into who you really are, the more powerful your impact will be.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who’ve played a role in my journey, and I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without them. First and foremost, I have to give a shoutout to Danielle, she’s the one who introduced me to cybersecurity and completely changed the trajectory of my life. I’ll always be grateful for that moment.

I’ve also been incredibly lucky to have amazing mentors along the way who believed in me, challenged me, and helped me grow. My family, friends, and boyfriend have been my biggest cheerleaders through all the highs and lows, they’ve kept me grounded and constantly reminded me why I started.

And honestly, a huge part of my motivation comes from the incredible community that’s grown around my content. The people who follow, comment, share, and support what I do, they inspire me every single day to keep going and keep showing up. This journey has never been just about me it’s always been about us.
