Meet Veronica | Owner Alquimia Hospitality Group & Blue Lavender Cafe

We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
To tell you the truth I don’t believe in balance. I don’t think we can be balanced and that trying to achieve that creates stress. I believe that there are times when your attention and energy are more focused in one area of your life than another. Sometimes it is planned and by choice and at times it is more reactive.
For example when you are spending time with family (vacation, event or just a regular day) vs when you have a big project and deadlines vs you take sometime to replenish your spirituality whatever this looks like to you.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am co owner of Alquimia Hospitality Group. We are a Boutique Hotel Management Company located in South Beach Miami. We currently manage 3 Art Deco historic buildings and an onsite restaurant. Wat sets us apart is the specialization in small, designed properties that have unique personalities, the attention to detail and that with Alquimia we can be part of the whole process. From land or property acquisition , development, design, opening, and management afterwards. It was not easy but after almost 25 years we are where we planned to be and more.
We got here with a plan, hard work, opportunities and of course the right team. We overcame challenges along the way as a team with strong leadership.
We provide a very hands on , personalized service, we are continously training our teams and learning new aspects of the industry ourselves. We are a tight group with strong ties to this community , Latin America and Europe. Our goal is to make our guests happy, make sure hey have a memorable experience while taking care of our staff, partners and investors.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami for a week, I’d want them to experience the city the way locals do — not just the tourist version.
The trip would mix beach time, art, culture, nightlife, amazing food, and time on the water. We’d spend mornings getting cafecitos in Little Havana, afternoons at places like Vizcaya Museum & Gardens or cruising through Biscayne Bay by boat, and evenings moving between incredible restaurants, rooftop cocktails, live music, and spontaneous nights out. I’d take them through different sides of the city — the glamour of South Beach, the creative energy of Miami Design District and Wynwood, the tropical elegance of Key Biscayne, and the old-school charm of hidden local spots that still feel authentically Miami.
The best Miami experiences aren’t just about where you go, but the atmosphere and people you encounter along the way. Some of the highlights would include dinner at iconic places like Joe’s Stone Crab, Mandolin Aegean Bistro, or Carbone, sunset drinks overlooking the skyline, late-night dancing or listening to music outdoors in the warm air, and at least one unforgettable boat day. Miami is most magical when you combine luxury, culture, music, design, Latin energy, and the ocean all in the same trip — it’s a city that feels glamorous and chaotic at the same time, and that contrast is exactly what makes it so exciting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful to many people for where I am at. Parents who encouraged me to travel, live abroad and have adventures. Sisters who are dear to me and great advisors and friends. Also Les Roches my school in Switzerland for giving me a great education and a community for life, my husband Juan Pablo who is my partner in crime in life and business. My girlfriends we are tight even today with many of us living in different countries and we have each other’s backs. My kids who are wonderful young adults and teach me everyday.
