We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanthini Harrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanthini, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite affirmation combines two powerful thoughts, “My business is overflowing with opportunities and everything that I need, I already have!”. For me, it’s creating connections through my products and the realization that I have everything I need to be successful and create multiple streams of income.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I view candle making as an artistic expression through fragrance. Working with soy wax and high quality scents, creates an experience to escape into relaxation. Not only do I create candles and spa products, I also teach a hobbyist level class as well as candle making business calls, for those who want to take the next step. My business started out as personal products shared with family and friends. As the popularity grew among them, I made the decision to further develop my brand. There were several ups and downs as I got started but believing in my process and myself helped the business grow. Today, along with candle making classes, I consult for a youth program, where I visit several schools and create various products. Along the way I have learned that everything will not be perfect in the beginning but persistence and dedication will help perfect it. I want the world to know that we are more than spa products, we are curators of wellness and longevity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriend visited me in Chicago, we’d definitely have to experience Truth Italian Restaurant, the Sky Deck, Millennium Park and S.L Wine Bar. To me, these are some of the best places in Chicago for great ambiance, drinks, views of the city and food! If the visit took place in Orlando, Florida we’d have to visit Landry’s Seafood House and Icon Theme Park. The ocean fresh air, the warm weather and scenery is amazing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people that have encouraged, mentored and supported me in this journey. Kenya Reaves, owner of the Absolutely Anything Essential gift shop where my products are sold and where I hold class. Also, Candace Holyfield-Parker aka The Six Figure Spa Chick for her spa-preneur business classes. And my fiancée, Stephen, for continued encouragement and business savvy.
