We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Daoud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It is important to do something you are passionate about in life, and if you can make a living off it, that’s even better. My passion for recipe creation was the driving force behind my business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I run a food blog called Be Happy Foodie, where I share easy and healthy recipes for people seeking a healthier lifestyle.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Miami. There are so many things to do and so many restaurants to try. I would start by going to the beach. Then, walk on Lincoln Road; there are a few authentic Italian restaurants, “Osteria Fortunata,” where they prepare homemade pasta right before you. There is also a fantastic restaurant called “Osteria de Positano” on Collin’s. I enjoy restaurants that make everything from scratch because the food is so fresh! There is also the Perez Art Museum if you are into modern and contemporary art. I also love Novikov for its authentic Chinese-Japanese food, which features upmarket sushi and seafood dishes. And let’s not forget Mila for Sunday brunch. For a nice relaxing massage, we can go to the Standard Hotel and spend the day by the pool, enjoy their Turkish hammam, and get a massage. Last but not least, the farmers market at Pinecrest Farmers’ Market
or Vizcaya Village Farmers Market for local food and finds.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and my dad are the driving forces behind Be Happy Foodie. They always cheer and support me in challenging times. They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself; I am eternally grateful for that.
