We had the good fortune of connecting with Eda Rosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eda, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-Life balance for most is this unicorn that everyone is trying to catch, doesn’t believe exists, or does believe exists but is unachievable. In reality, work-life balance is perspective, setting boundaries, and putting your needs first. Remember to fill your cup before sharing. You cannot share from an empty cup. Once you change your mindset and the way you look at your reality you will change the way you react to 90% of your life. Life is like a GPS without placing the address in it, it will not be able to guide you. Over time I have learned that mindset is everything. The way you talk to yourself and the way you look at your situation will determine its trajectory. Thoughts create reality so make sure that most of those thoughts are positive. We often forget that humans were made to evolve and we slow ourselves down. We are our own worst enemies after all. So change your mindset and everything else will change along with it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Everything we touch on a daily basis has a legal concept tied to it. From getting your driver’s license to checking into a hotel, to purchasing a home. I learned this at a very early age. As a legal professional for over 20 years, I have seen what a lack of not knowing or understanding of the law can do. Once I opened my business in 2017 I realized that the skills I had acquired up until that point transpired in a way that made my business unique. I knew that changing the legal industry from the inside out would be key. Teaching our legal professionals how to grow their careers while growing themselves at the same time would be crucial for the success of the legal industry but also for the communities that they serve. So I went to work and created workshops, webinars, conferences, books, curriculum, consulting for law firms, training materials, and launched the Let’s Talk Paralegal podcast in order to reach as many legal professionals as possible. In doing so I found that when our legal professionals sharpen their skills the community gets better legal services. So it is a win-win for everyone.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I love beaches… when it comes to Miami I thoroughly enjoy the festivals, arts, and museums! Miami is its own little world. I would start by eating brunch on Nikki Beach. I love museums. One of my favorites is the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science. You can go for lunch at Pinocchio on the Bay super unique and the food is amazing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
No success is done alone. Without my support system, I would be lost. My friends and family are just amazing! But to name a few, I have to say my mother Evelyn Rodriguez has always been there for me. My children give me the strength to continue to work hard and keep going every day.
