We had the good fortune of connecting with Ennis Payton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ennis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been the leader type that’s my mentality and I never liked working for other people despite the fact that I’ve acquired good paying jobs through out my life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well I been at this music since I was a child my grandfather use to sing with the Four Tops a legendary Motown Group his name was Lawrence Payton my Name is Ennis Payton so when I started my buisness in October of 2017 I named my record label Payton Place Entertainment running your own business is not easy and you have to be dedicated and loyal to yourself and your idea with no doubt that it’s going to work that means alot of hard work and sacrifice lots of mistakes but it’s a process of learning failure is part of the process also the success is learning from every mistake apply that eventually you start learning how not to fail.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m Vegan myself but I would probably take them out to the Cheese Cake Factory Jay Alexander’s or Drake’s a nice local bar & grill those are the places that I feel would be enjoyable and fun.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It seems like such a long journey in such a small period of time gained people and lost some people but my producer Phenom Beatz have been there from the beginning every step of the way he’s one person I definitely depend upon.
