We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Boom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started FITMAMA out of my own personal need to find fitness apparel that would fit me right. 7-8 years ago, there was not alot of options in the market, and I saw an opportunity
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being owner and creative director for FITMAMA Apparel, is an opportunity to express thru colors and unique designs my love and passion for an active lifestyle. Staying true to the brand and close to it’s essence and nature has helped me navigate challenges and even a global pandemic.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh boy!!!! I LOVE Miami! We would grab some coffee at panther coffee and I would take her to enjoy some outdoor activities like bike riding in the venetian causeway or some paddleboard in key biscayne. If she is not up to being outside because it’s too hot, i would invite her to take a class at Anatomy in Coconut groove. We would then drive to wynwood where we would have a quick healthy bite in Pura Vida and enjoy the afternoon shopping! At night I would take her for sushi either at Pubelly (Beach or SoMi) or Sushi Garage (Groove)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Son, because when he was born I wanted to start a business (product) that would free my time from owning my own personal training studio (service).
