We had the good fortune of connecting with Felecia Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felecia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I was blessed to spend countless moments with my great-grandmother, helping her with daily activities and watching her face light up with each small gesture, whether it was combing her hair or simply helping her feel clean and cared for. I remember the warmth in her eyes, the smile that said “thank you” even when words didn’t. Those moments showed me early on the power of compassion and connection, but life took a sharp turn when she got sick. I had to move to Florida with my mom, leaving her behind and shortly after, she passed away. Losing her was a struggle that stayed with me, but it also planted a seed in my heart for what would later become my life’s mission.

I had my first two children young, at just 14 and 16, and I knew then that my path had to change. I needed a future that would provide stability for my children and a purpose for myself. Determined, I earned my GED from Pensacola State College and went on to earn my CNA certification, a step that felt right, like I was honoring my great-grandmother’s memory. With that certification, I joined Emerald Coast Hospice, where I had the privilege of caring for people in their final stages of life, bringing dignity and comfort to them and their families. I worked there for 11 years, pouring my heart into each patient, guided by the memory of my great-grandmother and her radiant smile.

My partner, who had always supported me, encouraged me to do something bigger with my caregiving skills. He saw potential in me that I struggled to see in myself. Sadly, he passed away on November 14, 2020 and the loss shook me to my core. The grief was overwhelming, but his words echoed in my mind, urging me forward. I realized that if there was ever a time to take the leap he had envisioned for me, it was now.

So, with both fear and excitement, I channeled my grief and experience into creating Brown’s Senior Care, a company born from my journey of loss, resilience, and love. Today, Brown’s Senior Care is my way of honoring my great-grandmother, my partner, and all those who have influenced my life. Every client we care for, every family we support, and every team member who joins us contributes to a legacy built on compassion, commitment, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel valued and cared for in their later years.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been deeply meaningful. Brown’s Senior Care is more than a business,it’s a tribute to the people I’ve loved and a promise to make a difference, one smile at a time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
