We had the good fortune of connecting with Florencia Divano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Florencia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I would love to say I’ve been organized and balanced my whole life but that would be a lie. I’ve always been the type of person to start something and not finish it, until I started my business. Balancing a thousand ideas and countless approaches, I relied on just one brain and two hands. That’s when I realized I needed structure and a good foundation to be able to build something strong. I went from not knowing what to call my business to having a google document with 20 pages full of ideas, designs, product descriptions, future products, etc. For a person as determined as myself, I knew what I wanted to do and I knew I wanted to accomplish it, I just didn’t know how until I sat down and wrote it all down. Balance has been incorporated in my everyday life, not just in my business or work life. I balance my time with my dogs, my friends, what I eat, where I want to invest my energy in. I think an overall balanced life is a happy and healthy life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently a paralegal at a law firm. I’ve been working there for about three years. To be completely honest, I worked my way up in life since I was 16 years old. My first job was at a Burger King by my school and while I was working there I picked up a part time job at a restaurant as a server. I honestly did not think I would ever leave the food industry. Then once I graduated high school, I wanted to become a manager because I knew I would be able to bring something to the table but that never happened. One day, I get a call from Planet Fitness and landed a job as a shift leader. That lead me to get promoted to an assistant manager and I loved it. I was there for almost three years. I learned a lot in all of my previous jobs, but most importantly I learned how to deal with different types of people and situations. I learned to stay focus and how to multitask at Burger King because every Sunday I was working the front and the drive thru while serving food for both places. My job at Planet Fitness taught me leadership skills, patience, to not mix business with pleasure, responsibility, training skills and many more things I’m sure. After that, I got into the law career path as a receptionist then to a different office and here I am. It’s important to know that I never lost hope even though I thought I would never make it out. I set my mind to want to be the best version of myself and work as hard as possible for everything I’ve ever accomplished. I think that’s what I want the world to know. Everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to go is Wynwood. There are so many things to do there I wouldn’t be able to create an itinerary. I like going with the flow. I would definitely go to eat at Le Chick for starters. Everything else comes with walking around and feeling the vibes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This business wouldn’t have ever existed if it wasn’t for a very specific person. I do not wish to name them but they took a big part in the making of this business. They support me to the best of their ability. I will forever be grateful for that, even if we are no longer in talking terms.
