We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanna Quinones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giovanna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I began thinking of starting my own business I was scared, How would I make time? How much will I have to invest? However all those things were pushed to the side when I realized WHY I was even thinking about starting my own business. I wanted to work for myself, I wanted to be able to take my vision put it to life and have a solid foundation for my family. I found something that I was really good at and began writing down why I felt I was good at these things. With over ten successful years of sales and marketing experience I knew that I wanted to take my expertise and make it my own. So what started as a hobby on social media, turned into a business venture of helping other entrepreneurs just like myself use platforms such as Instagram and Facebook to build their brands and scale their business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently hold my Masters in Business Management and have over ten years of experience. In my current business, GQ Digital Marketing, I am using my Business and Marketing background to help other small businesses build their brand in an ever changing digital world. Stepping into this role has not been easy, being in the corporate world my whole working career and switching to freelancing has been extreme. You become your own boss, you have to get your own tools, reintroduce your brand to people who know nothing about you, and to me that is the hardest part. Overcoming this has been challenging, however it is all apart of the process, when you begin your own business there are ups and downs and to work through them you have to remind yourself your why and stick to it. If there is one thing I want people to know about me is that this isn’t my first business venture, I have tried many different things and each time I felt like I failed I got back up and tried again, What’s worth having will not come easy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A perfect day for my best friend and I would be breakfast at our favorite spot Canvas in Lake Nona, then a stop to our favorite flower shop Poppy Truck (which she happens to own). Followed by some spicy margaritas and pizza at Park Pizza, we then end our day with a mani and pedi at our favorite Spa. Being a business owner can be rough and this is our perfect day in Orlando!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there is one person I want to shout out is my husband, he is constantly helping me push my ideas to life. He has been by myside through many business ventures, careers and college education and without the love and support from him and my 3 children I wouldn’t be pushing so hard to continue to “break glass ceilings.”
