We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If I wasn’t constantly taking risks, I’d be incredibly bored! To me, “risk” is not really risk – it’s living dynamically and pushing myself to constantly explore new terrain in my business and in every aspect of my life.
For me, creating my business has always been a creative adventure of constantly stepping outside of my comfort zone. I don’t like to do the same thing twice. A lot of people would say that makes a lot more work, but for me it’s more work to try to repeat myself or repeat creations. I have surrounded myself with a dynamic team who also thrive on changing it up, taking leaps, and exploring new terrain, and we are always looking at what new offerings, conversations, and creations we can come up with. It keeps things fresh for all of us, and we have put in place some really great systems that allow us to run with those brilliant creative ideas when the pop up. We work fast, and we enjoy the heck out of it!
What should our readers know about your business?
I truly see myself as a facilitator in people’s lives – and my role as such is to make their lives easier in every way. Ease is underrated in this world and one of the things I value the most. I help people to have ease with their businesses, with finances, with their bodies/health, parenting, relationships – everything.
I am proud that I go all over the map with people. I don’t have a niche. That was too small for me. For me, every aspect of our lives affects every other aspect of our lives – so if you are unhappy as a mom, your business is going to suffer. So we have to look at all of it. I love that I can dive in with people and intuit where they are and what is sticking them – and go there! – so that we can unlock the things that keep everything else from moving and flourishing.
I got to where I am today business-wise by trusting me. By having way more fun than I am supposed to. By not following the rules or a pre-determined path. By throwing out anything people say I should do to create success if it doesn’t resonate with what I know. I got to where I am today by leaping constantly into everything I don’t know, and in totally letting go of “how” as a construct.
Was it easy? No! Was it ease? Yes. There’s a difference! To me, ease is there no matter what is going on. Easy is a great and impossible idea that requires us to judge and assess. I can have ease with everything, even the most challenging situations. It’s up to me. I have a ridiculously positive attitude, that is genuine, and I would say this is one of my great strengths. I have an uncanny capacity to see possibilities in everything. No matter what. I love asking questions – and this is where that comes from.
Lessons I’ve learned along the way? Judgment kills creativity (positive as well as negative judgment!). Trying to get it right ensures you never will. Not being willing to fail limits our creative wingspan in a huge way. Cliff jumping as a regular business practice is not only fun, but required for me to not get bored. The universe ALWAYS – and I mean ALWAYS – has my back. So I create my business from there. It never shows up like I think it will – but at this point, that is so very fun for me! Business is an adventure and it’s about living my life full on and having fun – and that will always grow my business and expand my money flows.
What do I want the world to know about me or my brand? Mostly I want the world to know that everything they desire is actually possible. And that their choice is what creates that – or not. We are far more powerful than we know, and what shows up in our lives and businesses is always a reflection of what we are willing to receive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her for a hike in my backyard. We would go to a ton of great restaurants. I would make her epic cocktails in my kitchen (which is my favorite bar in the world – I am a lay mixologist and really good at it!). We would do loads of energy work and body work. We would spend lots of time outside. And shop! (but probably not in my hometown hahaha)
For me the most fun people are people that are awake, real, kind, and doing amazing things to change the world.
