We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivoire Lloyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivoire, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After years of working in different industries, and always being creative, I decided to capitalize on it. I’ve been the go to person for bios, product descriptions and resume support. It only made sense to now make a business out of it and be compensated.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am responsible for proposal oversight, management and production, and implementing and facilitating proposal guidelines and technical writing assignments at an A&E firm.
I am a marketing professional with 17 years of marketing, corporate communications and proposal coordination experience. Armed with a B.A. in Advertising/Journalism (Norfolk State University’s Class of ’04) and a diverse work background, this combination remains a desirable feature for brand exposure. I have worked in various marketing capacities in the fields of legal marketing, B2C marketing, benefits and compensation/actuarial proposal writing, and transportation engineering proposal writing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to eat. We would start off with a boozy brunch, mid day mani and pedis and end with a fabulous diner. Living in New York, there are a plethora of food options. Even with an abundance of choices, I still have favorite restaurants that I have been dining at for the past 10 years.
Weather permitting, we would also have a day at the beach with a massive charcuterie board and a hard seltzer or sparkling wine.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tania Dance has always been supportive, provides a listening ear and a go-getter. Also shout out to Monique McEachin, founder of Paperie by MJ. She has shared many insights on entrepreneurship and takeaways that are extremely valuable for those starting up. My cousin Fallon of Bows and Blossoms LLC has also been a motivating force. Watching her start her business and taking care of her daughter has always been an inspiration.
