We had the good fortune of connecting with Jael Roumain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jael, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factors behind the success of my brand is consistency and creativity. What I realize with lots of brands is that great ideas can easily go unnoticed when they are left as uncompleted concepts. It’s important for me to be consistent in what I offer to my customers, as they expect for me to always come through with new unique ideas. Imagine your most loved brand changing the brand personality on you? That is not an option for us. My customers are very picky when it comes to styles, models, content and my brand as a whole. This is why I love giving them just what they like to see. One thing I noticed is that my shoppers love seeing me model the new styles that I drop, therefore I continue to provide that type of content to them. Creativity is also another factor behind my brands’ success. Being innovative and finding unique combos for my content hasn’t steered me in the wrong direction yet and it’s something that I plan to continue through my e-commerce takeover. I constantly exercise my creativity since the day that I decided to start my own business, from being the originator of our $50 Swagg Bag events to our fun local happy hour gatherings. I like including my customers (Muurswagg Babes) in everything we do—it brings a sense of family and loyalty to our brand and those are just a few values we carry.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As the face and owner of my brand, I take pride in the image and message behind our brand. We built our brand from the ground up organically through different marketing strategies and incorporating lifestyle content to engage our customer base. When people hear the name Muurswagg, I want them to envision, trendsetter, gogetter and jetsetter. Seeing the organic growth of our brand first hand excites me, it confirms that we are making the right moves and giving our Muurswagg babes the content they want. As an entrepreneur, ambition and confidence has helped me get to where I am today professionally. It was not easy, there were many days where I wanted to give up or go on a hiatus. My partner (husband) has always supported me and helped balance the weight of operating the brand. Whenever it got hard or seemed impossible, my husband was there to encourage me to keep pushing. Over the years, I learned that you always have to stay ready so you don’t have to get ready! I want the world to know that we are committed to providing our customers a fun innovative brand highlighting, fashion, lifestyle and love.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My friends know I’m a foodie and explorer. I love a great experience whether it be a restaurant, hotel, or lounge. My go to restaurants are Yardbird, Totem Restaurant, Thatch, Plant Miami, Planta South Beach, Swagat. I love a good happy hour, some of my favorite happy hour spots are Reunion Ktchn Bar, Totem Restaurant, Sugarcane Bar & Grill. Great hangout spots are in wynwood, miami or midtown miami, like Victory lounge for brunch. Since the pandemic, many hangout spots have been cut short, so a fun game night with friends or home cooked dinner is always a good vibe.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I can choose someone to shout out it would be Tahira Joy, co-owner of “The Cut Life”. As a guru in the beauty and style industry, she has an amazing eye for all things trendy and that pop! I’m a fan of her strategies and analytical tactics in her brand. She is also far from shy when it comes to taking risks and isn’t afraid to throw a crazy idea out there. Tahira always shows my brand love and her support is highlighted simultaneously through her own growth.
