We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Bigio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Consistency over fear. It’s that simple. Will I make mistakes? YES! Have I made mistakes? PLENTY! but I always bet on myself in business in sports in family and life. If I don’t believe in myself no one will and nothing works. I always attempt things before I’m “ready” and the more I got used to that habit the more it was. The most predictable things are in fact unpredictable. I have come to ask myself questions, an internal dialogue and it’s always why not me? Instead of what IF. Action takes president. In the beginning of the pandemic I approached it with an all I can see is opportunity mindset. The passion behind each action followed. More time to focus on being a present mother, more business opportunities in creating small group fitness classes both virtual and in person. If we focus on a positive mindset the outcome will be positive and if we focus on what can go wrong that too will come to fruition. I believe my unconventional methods approach to health and fitness has made the ultimate difference in my career and especially now in the times we are living.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a personal trainer and group fitness instructor with a passion for distance running I feel like I have come across a huge gap in the industry. I worked at the Miami Beach JCC since day one and that 7 years and counting has allowed me to meet all different people from all walks of life and build a reputation with action, dedication and time. I have a no BS no pampering no gym floor approach to fitness and strength training. I believe that no matter your age or history being healthy and fit will change your life and snow ball a million other opportunities improving upon every aspect of personal and professional life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami! It is paradise. In the last decade the city has become an international hot spot for fashion, food, people and of course our beaches. There are outdoor trails and scenes off the beaten path down in Key Biscayne that requires feet or bicycle only. South pointe beach and park for lounging and crystal clear waters suitable for snorkeling. I think if one lives in this city we are bound for visitors. The culinary scene has exploded and my favorite spots are a bit west on the map in upper buena vista for a great meal, drinks and people watching. Slowly but surely the life of this city is back and it’s hard to ignore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank everyone who told me “no”. I am lucky with a wonderful supportive family and incredible group of athletes I get to train with daily.
