Meet Lacy Barry

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Lacy Barry again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Lacy, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m Lacy Barry Paper Artist, Interior Designer, Illustrator & Podcaster. To give a brief overview, I started my life in the applied arts at a pretty young age, always creating, playing and imagining like most kids do, I was thrust into the world of professional dance before the age of 10. Then making my way into fashion, film, and the commercial arts while maintaining my secular art passions in parallel. I’ve been lucky enough to do many things with my abilities particularly in paper forming and sculpting, illustration, interior design, sets for music videos and commercials, graphic mediums and various others. But now with a lifetime of enriching creative projects under my belt, I’ve been able to refine specifically those applications I feel most compelled towards. Particularly in the genre of Solarpunk; one that center’s nature and our human relation with the environment, each other, plant, animal and fungi species and ourselves. And Lunarpunk; the magical component of a technological and spiritual based relationship with our ecosystems. Both Solarpunk and Lunarpunk work in collaboration with each other like night & day and are big proponents of my current art works and ambitions.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Since our last interview I’ve been working on quite a few cute projects, particularly fusing Arts ecology and architecture. Specifically thinking a lot about how we can construct living homes, such as those that grow wood vines for structure reinforcement, create kitchens that grow food and harness solar to cook and beautifully recycle water in a system that makes more environmental sense for our climate and well being. I’ve also been illustrating a Lunarpunk Oracle deck that I will be starting a GoFundMe for very soon. It features paper illustrated preternatural scenes from my life and adventures. I’m creating Biodegradable paper urns that can be buried or given to the sea without polluting environments. And finally I’m hosting workshops in imagining Solarpunk futures and consultations on how to create Solarpunk interiors to full interior constructions.
