We had the good fortune of connecting with Leda Almar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leda, what’s your definition for success?
Over the years, my perception of success has evolved. In the early stages of my career, it seemed like a daunting concept. However, now I view it as something much more approachable. Today, success for me means pursuing what I’m passionate about, which is creating and teaching. Being able to thrive in this country without fear while dedicating myself to my art and teaching is a significant achievement, and know with the opening of my new studio, I see it as the start of a new chapter in my journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

What can I say about my art? I can’t separate my art from my life. I’m a mom, I paint,I cook ,I’ve always created , on the extra room , on the garage wherever I could , now finally on my very new studio in Ft. Lauderdale , a big step for me.
What I’m most proud of in my career is that I never gave up, even when doubts were abundant in the life of an artist. My art is a reflection of my emotions and feelings; I can’t create solely based on technique; I must have a story to tell , but lately is not only about creating anymore, over the years of teaching, I’ve learned to appreciate the profound impact that art can have on a person’s life. One of my main goals in my new space is to conduct workshops that connect with as many people as possible, encouraging them to create and explore their own emotions through art. This makes me feel really at peace.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them on long beach walks and end the day watching the sunset at “Le Tub.” Then There are plenty of museums to see in Miami, and, of course, more beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, it was my husband who always told me, “Do what you love, don’t worry about money, it will come.”
