We had the good fortune of connecting with Manny Macedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manny, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My business is built on relationships, Like any relationship, trust needs to be built, we always keep our clients best interests in mind every step of the process. We make sure that every interaction with our clients is a pleasant one and we strive to deliver the best products using the best materials available. The work speaks for itself and people love to talk about it, It’s safe to say that 80% of our business today are either repeat clients or word of mouth referrals.
What should our readers know about your business?
I want to use my brand to show & inspire others thay they can do anything they set their mind to. It’s easier said than done, but I firmly belive that if I can do it anyone can. I am proud that I have made it this far, September 2020 is my 5yr anniversary of being in business, even the times I was on vacation have been challenging, it’s very difficult running a business because often times you have no one to solve your problems. My business specially, since I pursue an artistic career there is no cookie cutter way to make decisions, it’s hard to plan ahead because there are a lot of variables & moving parts that most of the time is out of our control. I have overcome every obstacles by facing them and working until they are solved. I go the extra mile to make up for the areas where I lack expertise and I always make sure that clients have a positive experience, even when things look like they will not end well I keep pushing until I see I throughly. The most important lesson is to not tell clients what they want to hear and this is something that I strugle with to this day, I am a pleaser and often times I find myself working until 2am because I promised to deliver something by a certain time, people get excited when they comission things because they can’t wait to see the finished product and at times it’s stressful for us both when things don’t go as planned, even though I always have every intention of making the deadlines they don’t always happen. Luckily once pieces are finished and delivered it puts the clients at ease and we’re always happy at the end.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Usually when friends are visiting I like to take them to my shop which helps them understand what really goes behind the scenes and the things we don’t post on instagram. By walking in my shop you can feel the energy and you can get a different perspective on the controlled chaos. For food & drinks I always recommend downtown Delray Beach or Downtown Boca Raton where they cater to every taste palette. We also have awesome beaches, museums and lots of things to do for people of all ages.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Im blessed to have always had friends & family on my corner supporting me in every way. I do owe most of what I know about woodworking and business to my uncle who used to be my boss and has become my mentor always guiding me, helping me grow. Also a special shout out to Mister E who has showed me the business side of the art world and helped me understand it. Also all the people who have helped me both in the shop & at job sites it’s impossible to do great things by yourself, you need a support system to help you along the way.
