We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Lesmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I definitely have to say taking action. Often times we get stuck in the thought process and even make that decision to work for ourselves but then we get scared because we are so conditioned to think that a paycheck will solve our lives, but there’s a saying “where there’s a will there’s a way” and I firmly believe that if you really want something and you take action your perspective of success will be changed.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I come from a career of 17yrs in healthcare, so becoming a full time entrepreneur has been scary but exhilarating at the same time. I feel that the biggest challenge for me has been probably one of the challenges that many entrepreneurs face, and that is getting your name out there, however the power of networking has opened the doors for me with the community and slowly but surely I have built a strong foundation for my business. I am extremely passionate about the human body and how beautiful it is, and having a background in surgery and aesthetics, I felt that there were others who like me have struggled with their self image
Being that my business is in the field of aesthetics and having a background in plastics has truly been my inspiration to Bring hope to others and help them feel comfortable and healthy in their own skin.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG we’re in south Florida baby! There’s so many cool spots to go! I live in Palm beach so first would be the beach, maybe some brunch at Benny’s on the beach in lake worth, or take a little stroll at the Morikami museum and gardens, we could go check out the Wharf in Fort Lauderdale, have some dinner and drinks at YOLO, definitely check out Sobe and all the fabulous restaurants they have! One of my favorite restaurants is El Camino, they have the best spicy avocado Margs without a doubt!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God! My Family, my friends, mis Maestras.
