We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Komarova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor has always been authenticity and the real connections I build with my couples. From the very beginning, I made a conscious decision to stay true to my style and values—not just follow trends or do what everyone else was doing. I believe people can sense when you’re genuine, and that’s what draws them in.

It’s never been just about taking beautiful photos. It’s about creating an experience, being fully present, and making my couples feel comfortable and understood. That kind of trust translates into real moments and timeless images. Over the years, I’ve seen how that approach builds lasting relationships. Many of our couples come back for maternity sessions, family portraits, birthday celebrations—you name it. And with our destination couples, we still receive the warmest messages, updates about their lives, their newborns… it’s truly special to stay part of their story long after the wedding day.

Another huge part of my journey was taking the risk of moving to a new continent with no family and starting from scratch. That was a defining moment for me. I had nothing to fall back on, but also nothing to lose—just the drive to create something meaningful. That experience gave me the courage to pursue my own business and to push through the hard moments with resilience. I think that mindset—believing in yourself even when things are uncertain—combined with staying true to your purpose, is what really fuels long-term success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my heart. I’ve always been drawn to emotion—real, raw, unfiltered emotion. That’s what I try to capture in every photo and video. I don’t chase trends or perfection—I chase feeling. The little glances, the tight hand squeezes, the joyful tears. That’s where the magic is. That’s what sets my work apart.

I started this journey with nothing but a dream. I moved to a new continent completely alone—no family, no guarantees, just a deep desire to create something of my own. Starting my business was scary. I didn’t know what the future would look like, but I knew I had to try. I had nothing to lose, only a blank page to write my story on. And now, years later, I’m surrounded by an incredible team of creatives who believe in this dream with me. That means everything.

It hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced fear, uncertainty, and a lot of moments where I questioned everything. But I’ve learned that the most beautiful things come when you take the risk and trust yourself—even when the path isn’t clear. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that believing in yourself is the most powerful decision you can make.

I want people to know that YESIDO isn’t just a business. It’s a piece of my soul. We don’t just document weddings—we’re there for the emotion, the story, the people. We care deeply, we show up with full hearts, and we give our all—because these memories deserve nothing less.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure they experienced the very best of Miami—the places that make you fall in love with this city over and over again.

We’d start with a scenic ride around Miami Beach, making a few must-stop visits along Ocean Drive to soak in the iconic Art Deco vibes. I’d plan a relaxing beach day at South Pointe, Haulover Beach Park, or Crandon Park—each has its own charm, but all feel like pure paradise. Then we’d grab happy hour drinks or an early dinner at Smith & Wollensky, just in time to watch the sunset paint the sky over the water—it’s one of my favorite views in the city.

I’d take them to Coral Gables for a change of pace—it’s like stepping into another era with its Mediterranean-style architecture and quiet elegance. Brunch at the Biltmore Hotel would be a must. It’s classy, timeless, and full of charm—it truly feels like a hidden gem frozen in old-world luxury.

We’d definitely plan a boat day to explore Biscayne Bay, cruise past the islands, and just enjoy the warm breeze and skyline views. And for a night out, I’d take them to Sugar, a rooftop bar with some of the best cocktails and city views—perfect for a stylish, relaxed evening.

We’d carve out time to stroll through Calle Ocho in Little Havana, soaking in the vibrant culture, music, salsa classes and street life. It has such an infectious energy. From hand-rolled cigars and domino games to the incredible Cuban coffee and authentic bites.
.
We’d also spend a dreamy afternoon at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens—it’s one of the most romantic and breathtaking places in the city. The European architecture, waterfront views, and lush gardens are like stepping into another world. It’s a spot that always leaves an impression.

Miami is so full of energy, color, and culture—it’s a blend of luxury, art, and laid-back coastal magic. I’d want them to leave feeling like they saw the best sides of it all.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people and moments that have shaped my journey, but if I had to choose one, I’d dedicate this shoutout to all of my couples. Their trust, their stories, their love—that’s the heartbeat of everything I do. They allow me into some of the most meaningful, emotional moments of their lives, and that’s something I never take for granted. Their continued support—even years after the wedding—is the reason my business continues to grow.

I want to take a moment to honor my mom. She passed away when I was 12, but the strength and values she instilled in me during those early years have never left me. She taught me how to be independent, how to face life with courage, and how to believe in myself. Her spirit has been with me in every big decision, especially when I took the leap to move to a new continent and build a life and business from scratch. I carry her with me in everything I do.

Also, I could never forget my close friends. They’ve been my biggest cheerleaders through every high and low. Whether it was encouraging me through new ideas, helping me stay grounded, or simply believing in me when I was still figuring it all out—they’ve played such an important role in my journey. That kind of support is priceless.

And lastly, I’ve been deeply inspired by so many creatives in the photography world—those who shared their knowledge, led by example, or simply reminded me through their art that storytelling is powerful. I’m grateful for every bit of support and encouragement that’s helped shape my path.
