We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Cameron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi michelle, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
There are thousands of books on parenting—and for good reason. Raising children is one of the most complex and important responsibilities anyone can take on. Yet, despite the abundance of advice, one truth remains clear: there is no one-size-fits-all approach to being a parent.

Parenting is shaped by a rich blend of cultural, economic, and geographic influences. What works for one family in one part of the world may look completely different in another. And that’s not only okay—it’s necessary. Children don’t grow up in a vacuum; they grow up in communities, environments, and circumstances that deeply influence their needs and values.

Still, regardless of these differences, there are universal principles that many of us hope to pass on to our children. To not only help them succeed, but to live lives that are happy, meaningful, and safe.

For me, as a person and a parent, the goal is simple—though not always easy. I want to raise my children to be good, reasonable, and caring human beings. People who are willing to go out of their way to help others. People who understand the importance of working together—not just for their own personal gain, but for the greater good.

I want my children to grow up with empathy and integrity. To recognize that real success isn’t measured only by what you achieve for yourself, but by how your actions lift those around you. I want them to know that kindness matters. That collaboration is powerful. And that the world needs people who are willing to do what’s right—even when it’s hard.

What should our readers know about your business?
My father, Lou Sciberras, had a deep love for tattooing. That passion grew into a business — one we’re proud to still be running nearly 40 years later.

From early on, my father understood that creative talent alone wouldn’t be enough to grow and sustain a business. He recognized the need for someone with a strong sense of business to move things forward — and that’s why he sent me to business school.

While my father and my husband, Ken Cameron, have always been the creative forces behind our work, I’ve focused on the business side, making sure our vision could grow and thrive.

If there’s one piece of advice I could share that’s helped me throughout life and business, it would be this:

Never take no for an answer.
Question that “no.”
Is there another way to approach the issue?
Can you find a different path to reach your goal?
Persistence and creative thinking are often the real keys to success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Now that I’m 56, rather than in my twenties, my idea of a good time or an interesting visit has definitely changed. It’s less about the nightlife and more about experiences that offer peace, beauty, and meaning.

Here are a few of my favorite South Florida experiences—each one timeless in its own way:

1. A Classic Miami Moment
To me, few things feel more quintessentially “Miami” than taking the dogs for a walk and then relaxing with a drink at Smith & Wollensky, right by the water. Watching the cruise ships and boats come and go from the Port of Miami—it’s a peaceful, endlessly interesting way to spend an afternoon.

2. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
As a big plant person, Fairchild is a true sanctuary. The diversity of tropical flora, the beautifully maintained grounds—it’s a dream. It’s also a perfect spot for a quiet picnic lunch under the palms or by the water.

3. The Women’s Club of Miami is a beautiful, historic building with stunning views of Biscayne Bay. At the rooftop restaurant, Klaw, you can enjoy delicious food in a scenic setting. While the menu is on the pricier side, the quality and ambiance make it worth the experience.

4. Driving the Overseas Highway
No trip to South Florida is complete without driving the Overseas Highway. It’s one of the most breathtaking drives in the world—and it’s right in our backyard. From Florida City to Key West, the journey is packed with scenic beauty, hidden gems, and memorable stops. Honestly, exploring the Keys could take a week all by itself.
