Meet Michelle Olmann: Event Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Olmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor to me, currently, is enjoying what I create. I don’t ever want to lose the hunger or desire to create new things every chance I get. I consider Hello Moments a success because of how far I have come. For myself, success is not defined by receiving social media accolades, but by continuing and growing the desire to design (even if it is just visions for the future.)
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love what I do. I love to create moments for people who are celebrating milestones in life. I love being able to design the idea of their thoughts, and making them feel that it is all about them during that time. One of the things that I have been able to do is create connections with the people while working with them. The ability to empathize with people, and not just be concerned about business, is an attribute that I am proud to have. This is because while we are working on their special moment, we are also creating memories. This journey has not been an easy one at all, and in some senses it still is difficult. I have to remind myself I am good enough and then some. The difficulty now, at times, is balancing between my craft, family, church, and my other jobs. I wonder if I have taken too much, but God has been so gracious with me every step of the way. When people see Hello Moments, I want them to see the vision, and see a black woman after God’s heart who is brightening the world with her talents and creativity.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much to do in South Florida, but considering everything going on, I would be very cautious of where we go. We would definitely recommend the Wynwood area, particularly when it is not very busy. I love the art, as well as, checking out the small business owners in the area. Another cool location would be the new Rosemary Square/Downtown Palm Beach. It has a lot of great walking areas, and cool shops to check out. I would definitely get dolled up for an evening downtown. I am all about the motto “looking good equals feeling good.” Then, I would easily say to get drinks at Sparrow Rooftop because it is just an awesome vibe. I am also very chill, so I recommend picnicing at one of our local parks. I am always about creating a moment and feeling good.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are quite a few people who have constantly been there for me and encouraged me along the way. My first will always be my husband, Josh. He is constantly there and will do anything to help: emotionally, spiritually, and physically (carrying all the heavy loads ). Also, my sister, Mirna. She never gets tired of me asking for her creative eye. She is an awesome graphic designer/typographer, so I get a lot of free stuff made just for me. All of my church family (Gospel Fellowship) who constantly hire and brag about me. There are too many awesome people to list. My parents, who recently expressed how proud of me they are. It is a big deal coming from them. Lastly, my son Mahershala. Although he is 21 months, his life pushes me to keep fighting.
