We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Hirsch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Throughout my life as an entrepreneur, I have managed two distinct businesses, both profoundly influenced by my background, the languages I speak, my multicultural heritage, and my cross-cultural understanding. In my event planning business, I specialize in organizing destination weddings and milestone events, predominantly for Brazilian clients, though I also cater to individuals from various parts of the world. Similarly, in my educational consulting business, I primarily assist Brazilian families and others in securing placements in top camps, summer programs, exchange programs, and boarding schools globally.

Growing up in Brazil and being fluent in Portuguese has given me a significant advantage in understanding the Brazilian culture and expectations, which is crucial in attracting and serving clientele in this market. This cultural insight is invaluable whether I am coordinating their special events or advising on educational opportunities for their children. My competitive edge is evident in both arenas.

Additionally, my education has equipped me with a unique perspective. I attended a British international school in Brazil and later pursued higher education in the United States, earning a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in education and psychology from Boston University. My fluency in French and Spanish, along with Portuguese and English, allows me to effortlessly navigate and comprehend the nuances of camps in the US and Canada, as well as boarding schools in the UK and Switzerland. This multilingual and multicultural proficiency enables me to identify the best educational fit for each child at every stage of their development.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I live between Miami and Punta del Este I will mention some of my favorites in both places. In Miami my favorite brunch is Yann Couvreur Cafe in Wynwood , my lunch and massage sport is at the Standard Hotel, my best beach spot for lunch is Aqualina or Four seasons. I love the sushi at Utto and Omakai. I love hanging out in the galleries in Wynwood, on the Beach around Sunny Isles and Bal Harbor. I love renting catamarans and sailing in Key Biscayne… I love paddle boarding at the Oleta Park and for shopping, Bal Harbor Shops for sure.

In Punta I love the waffles at L’auberge, lunch at La Huella or La Susana in Jose Ignacio. For dinner Marismo or I’marangatu. My favorite hotel is Fasano. I love renting bikes and going in the quite neughborhoods of houses and pine trees. For a magnificent day in a vineyard Bodega Garzon is a must. I love going to Narbona for teatime in the countryside.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My beloved husband who has supported me in every endeavor i have pursued and has always wanted me to follow my dreams and fly high, even if at the cost of countless nights away from him with him holding the fort with the kids!
