We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Bandhu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a single parent, raising 3 kids one Autistic, the most important thing that I have done as a parent in term of leaving a great impact on my children, is to never ever lie to them, I always tell them as it is, I have never sugar coated anything or let them think its all fun and games, no! Im not a strict parent because my dad was not Strict with me but, he always told me I can do anything and being from a family of Entrepreneurs it was really instilled in me, so my kids also do their own hustle on the side because its really all they know how to do, I mean they have their jobs but they are invested and investing in other projects. I let them know they have to work hard, and one is waiting to hand you anything, I have sacrificed for my kids, and will continue till the day I die. I will ALWAYS be there, even more so now as a grandmother ( yes a grandmother. So love my Athan) I decided to give up the warmth of Florida to move to Virginia, to assist my son with his baby. Now my son 26 is in the navy, The Ultimate sacrifice I could not be prouder of him. My 21 year old is still trying finding her way, My baby that Is 16 (autistic). She is following dead in my tracts and wanted to do a beauty line. So now she has a company she sells makeup and perfume for a company out of Paris. SO SUPER PROUD OF ALL OF THEM.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
A- I have a variety of businesses. ( jack of all trade one will say) I have my Soap, Soaks Scrubs, Etc, line doing extremely well thank the heavens. It is a beautiful line Its silky on the skin, doesn’t dry your skin out it keeps it moisturized. I Also have a travel agency, & a make-up line I do with my daughter, this is a new project not bad so far but as I said it a new line. What sets me apart from others? I’m not a afraid of rejections or the word no. For example: my travel agency in a time where everyone is absolutely scared to travel, everything/where is on lockdown, I won’t lie a few of my “friends” laugh when I posting about travel destinations and Ideas , I just smile because at the end of the day, its obvious we are not on the same level, they are focused on now! Im focused on the future!! i was never a think inside the box, glass 1/2 empty type of gal, I never let anyone opinion or criticism get in the way of my focus, after all they aren’t in a happy place and don’t want me to be either. I am where I am now business wise due to my bull headed, determination, go getter personality, (Im a Leo, lioness a predator/ hunter by nature, im an outside person I cant be indoors counting time to go home or being told I CANNOT! do what I need to when the school calls about my children, or news my dad. I give anything for them just to be at home with my daughter Kalani (she’s autistic & homeschooled ) I have serious trust issues when it come on to seeking help for her. I would say it was easy for me on my Soap line and Beauty line because I know the market to target, It required a lot of driving yes I know I have website and all but I honestly rather that personal touch with my customers, so I rather hit the pavement. Now that my travel agency is slow, im actually taking this time to learn more about the industry so that is how I am over coming my challenges by trying to stay informed. Lessons I have learned? friends and family don’t support you. Strangers do. I got where I am today solely on the support of total strangers who have become extremely great associates, business partners & friends. I want the world to know that I am coming with a force and I will not be stopped! My brands, I can talk and talk and talk, all day long and give reviews from all my customers but proof is in the pudding, they literally speak for themselves, My Story, hm as I mentioned Single mother or 3 Onai 26, Yhan 21, Kalani 16, cannot forget the man who stole my heart my grandbaby Athan. Was in high school I was very good at chemistry, too good I truly loved it but it was boring for me, whenever I have mastered something I lose interest in it. That I guess is my problem I hate getting too comfortable I have to always excel. I have a Masters in Accounting, Im a Massage therapist, and Aesthetician, CDL class A truck driver, I volunteer sometimes at the senior homes, I sometimes care for the elderly as well just to connect keep their company, I do a lot of donation. Heart disease, Autism, unicef, Alzheimer’s.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A- We are eating at Trulucks Galleria Mall Fort Lauderdale area. the absolute best!! Awesome staff!! Omg the best crab fried rice ( you are now making me very hungry.. SO love it there) We love the drive-inn so this is a definite must. Hangout local Jamaican clubs, Festivals, besides hangout & having fun, we honestly like just sitting around at home talking ( as if we don’t talk enough every single day already) Normally we would have gone to Kaya festival thats Bob Marley kids have a festival in Miami annually, or memorial weekend bout be the Best of the Best another Caribbean festival.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids, without them nothing would be possible, my dad’s spirit thats aways with me, best friend Wendy, who right know is on the front line as an essential worker ( RN ) I look up to her so much risking it everyday., grand baby Athan (just knowing he’s in the world is encouragement enough) and a book titled the laws of attraction” They really encourage me especially now with everything going on .
