Meet Patrice Simpson | Author & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrice Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrice, what’s your definition for success?
Success for me is simple. It’s whatever makes me happy on this journey of life. The simple things. Too often we are pressured into believing that success is merely materialistic. I believe that success is so much more and holds a different definition for everybody.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion sets me a part from most authors and I know it might sound cliche but when you’ve been in dark spaces, you will understand and value my work. When I write, I’m not merely just writing but I’m also sharing personal experiences that can help someone else to cope. I would not say becoming an author was easy but I was very lucky to be connected to like minded individuals who saw my potential and believed in my craft. I can’t complain because my journey has been a smooth one and I’ve been such an inspiration to others. That is a big win for me. The greatest lesson I learned along the way is to just be myself. I remember my cousin in law, Shelly, telling me those words when I had an upcoming TV interview. Up to this day, her words never left me and I live by them. I just want people to recognize that I’m serious about my craft and I genuinely love what I do. I crave new supporters and readers as I continue to learn and grow. My story is simple. I fell, then I got back up, stronger than ever. I know that I will achieve all that seems impossible and I’m very grateful for the people who have been on this journey with me thus far.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a home body! Lol! I can’t give much recommendations if I’m being completely honest.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mentor and big brother from another mother, Byron Harmon. He believed in me from day one. My son Rozayn is also my driving force. My sisters and my parents. My loving partner and lifelong friend. My cousin, Shawn. Honestly, there are so many persons who have played a vital role in my growth as an author and entrepreneur. I hope they all know how much they’re appreciated for being a part of my journey. I also have to give a special shout out to the NCB Level Up Programme and Internet Income Jamaica. Also Ms. Monique Palmer, who introduced me to the programme. My life has been impacted positively because of that and I’m learning a lot which will help me to grow in the digital entrepreneurship world.
